Interesting indeed.
But about 1/3 of views give the entire article a thumbs down. I'd say even with that, they pretty much are on tap with what others think having 2/3 majority!

Vista....no surprise

They delayed it like two years, threw out features and hell...it still isnt stable
Even a friend of mine was going suicidal.

Regarding HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray: "It will be a snowy day in Video Hell before we'll put our money down on either format."

MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY!

i still find it funny how microsoft supports HD-DVD and yet does not put that drive INSIDE their 360, even the elite.

HD Gaming + DVDs = Hell of a lot of disc swapping

Oh, and the HD-DVD add on? Well, That Looks like S#!T
For $200, go buy an actual player
And BTW, the PS3 is a lot less, and you get a bluray player with it....just saying...

Xbox = $300 + 200 HDDVD
PS3 = $500, no add ons

Whatever..not to turn this into a debate, but i think Microsoft and supporters should change their marketing strategy, because it seems to me (and a few others) Vista turned into a nightmare (I Will say toshiba rocks though).

This happens every time M$ releases a new Win build. The marketing or sales people at M$ are running the company and new builds are yanked out the door before they're ready for prime time.

This is good news for aftermarket programmers who make a mint designing patches and fixes for the damn things. :D

The same happened with Win95. It happened again with 98. It happened with ME and 2K and XP.

It works fine 'til you've got a gazillion customers doing all kindsa things to crash it. The builds ain't perfected 'til they get abused all to hell by the consumer, lol. :)

Fred, most, and maybe ALL of what you say it true, but the deal is, IMO, MS has never had such a backlash and dislike of an OS, even a year after its release.

Rick might like it, but I will never like it....

I hear ya there, Papa. :)

If it's any help, I was still running 98 when XP was released, lol. :D Shirl and I tried ME for a few months but went back to 98. ME was a PITA.

Much of the dislike of any new Win build seems to come from default settings. I agree that the defaults are not always in the consumer's best interest but defalts can be altered. If they can't, someone will come up with a patch to take care of that.

Agreed ~ M$ shouldn't make a new build as difficult to navigate as they do. Most XP users have finally figured out how to use the build... and M$ supersedes it with a new build that is all different. Every time they do this, they make it more unfriendly for the consumer.

Why can't they just leave well enough alone? :dontknow:

Gweeek Sqwaud lost my laptop while going in for a repair, yeah it sucks... I got a new lappy, with vista unfortunately. I almost swore I was going to put ubutu on there, but there isn't an open source DJ program... Maybe VDJ should delve into linux since they already have a mac version. Anywho, my biggest beef with Vista is this... The Classic views are not really classic, it is hard to get Vista to behave just like XP. There are a few neat enhancements, but nothing I really like. i disabled to aero interface, in an effort for a XP look. . . That and it takes up a ungodly amount of memory, for reasons unbeknown to me!

Vista isn't the only new OS with "problems"

#8. Needs To Change Its Spots: Apple "Leopard" OS 10.5
Maybe we just got spoiled by the iPod and iPhone, but the glow came off Steve Job's halo after this feline fleabag debuted. Within days of its release last October, Mac users reported dozens of problems with the new OS, some more serious than others.

I have to agree, Mike. I think it's really disgusting that a respected company like Apple would disable the firewall by default on a new OS release!

I haven't played with Vista yet - thanks for the info, Travis. I was going to play with it to see if I could reset the XP classic feel, but the OS overhead is still crazy.

Doug - Another great post! Tech seems to take a back seat sometimes in the name of profits rather than improvements. (8-tracks, anyone?)

My local Windows guru is telling me the best thing out there right now is Windows XP PRO w/SP3. Don' mess with the home editions or XP Pro prior to SP3. The complete version of XP Pro post SP3 is about as rock solid as it gets for Windows.
