I have a Apple G5 computer, a Pioneer DJM 3000 mixer and I just got Peak LE 5 Software.

I don't know too much about computers. Do I need a soundcard? Or does my computer already have one? What kind of cable do I need?

How do I do this?? I'm having trouble recording. I'm trynig to record straight from the mixer to the computer but it is not working. Do I need a amp?

Please help! Thanks

I haven't tried it yet, but I've been told to have a "Y" adaptor coming out of the mixer and plug into the back of the computer to line in or microphone and burn. I have directions that were sent to me, but I haven't tried it nor can I copy and past them onto here. I'll find out more and let you know. Something to do with Windows movie maker.

Weird. I assume that your turntable is incorporated into your mixer. You should be able to record via a direct cable to the PC using standard windows media software included with the PC., although it is advisable to use correction software to remove unwanted noise from the vinyl.

If your turntable is NOT incorporated with the mixer, remove the mixer from the connection completely and record directly from the turntable.

You do not need an amp of any sort, just the audio signal from the source. Since you are making direct copies, a mixer is not only unneccesary, it is an added audio processing obstruction between the source and the PC..

I think he has an Apple G5. I'm not an Apple user so I was just wondering if responses related to PC's apply - if they do I can tell you how I do it, otherwise, nevermind.:sqerr:

You can do that as long as you have an RIAA amp between the turntable and the pc sound card... your best bet is a USB turntable since it's designed for this type of transfer and usually includes the necessary software.

A USB turntsable is certainly the easiest way to go, but I have recorded from a turntable with only RCA outputs. However, I don't understand the reference to an amp. I have always recorded source signal to PC. No amp of any kind required.......
