The two I really liked,,,, Alienware and Ferrari I couldn't see how to oder them with XP instead of Vista... maybe it's just me...

So now I am thinking Dell and maybe they will have a sale for the New Year..... I hate this stuff!

Greets, Chuck.

The puter makers may have discontinued loading 'em with XP. However, XP is still widely available. Any puter shop can load your new machine with XP.

Chuck, I don't want to see you buy a laptop you won't be happy with just because of the OS. If the laptop price is right & the quality is what you want, XP Home is available for under $90 and XP Pro is about $140. (The biggest difference is really Windows networking capability, mostly.) You can always make an image of the hard drive, make sure you can get XP drivers (!!!) and load XP on the hard drive. That way, when (if?) Vista becomes usable, you can load it back on the laptop.

Chuck, Kayleigh is right, as is DJ Lil. If it were me I would buy the computer you want and then load XP. Making the change to Mac is probably the smart thing to do anytime you are working with music...I have been told by the experts.

Problem is the learning curve....to make the change plus the added expense of new software.....it never ends.....
If I was to go Computerized it would be a Mac........my 2 cents worth.....

You Guys Are Hilarious! Chuck as mentioned before, A Mac would definitely Be a good way to go. Loading XP into it would solve the problem. Although for most people Heading towards a Mac is very expensive, it sure is good to never have to worry about repairing them as often as Pc's. Ive had 2 macs (One for home use and laptop for club/mobile dj)for over 2 years and have had no problems what so ever!

I don't know what kind of PC's you've had that you have had to repair often and what exactly you were doing to cause problems.... but I've been using PC's for various things and have only had to reload a PC once but it was due to my stupidity in unpluging the computer repeatedly durring a show and all I had to do was reformat the drive and reload from my backup drive... this is in the last 10yrs of being a PC user for personal and business use...

Don't kid your self or anyone else a Mac is just as suseptable (sp?) to hardware failure as a PC... I don't care what those stupid commercials say about viruses either.... if you can get online you can get a virus, period.... Mac imunity to problems is largely overstated....

Go with a PC and you'll have a more cost effective solution.

Very True! I Explained that the wrong way...
I would say that from my experiences MACs have been more beneficial to myself.
Ive just had bad luck with Pc's :sqfrown:

The reason Macs don't get viruses often is due to the fact that Macs make up but a tiny slice of all machines online. Writing virus code that would affect a Mac wouldn't have the blood, guts 'n' glory of shutting down major networks.

I dunno...I think these Dell XPS notebooks are pretty sexy...

Chuck, why are you against Vista? Don't most of the dj software programs work fine with them now? I've played with several on my vista laptop (granted, not for extended periods of time) and they have worked just fine. Rockit 4, VDJ, BPM Studio....avoiding vista is just avoiding the inevitable....

And someone else already said it...you can order from Dell with XP on it I'm assuming...
