Papa Deuce 01-03-2008, 02:38 AM Ok, so I'm ripping more music and the FINAL song on one disc would not rip. Then it happened with the Next disc. And then a 3rd disc. And, then a 4th disc.
Things that make me REALLY go Hmmm.
Disc 1 High School Musical
Disc 2 High School Musical 2
Disc 3 The Jonas Brothers
Disc 4. Hannah Montana 2
See the connection?
So then I rip a ZZ Top song, the final song on the disc. It all goes exactly as it should...... What do you think is happening here?
Jeff Romard 01-03-2008, 02:46 AM Welcome to copyright protection my friend..... It wouldn't be the first underhanded thing Disney has done
patrickrlewis 01-03-2008, 02:48 AM It means you should have better taste in music, hahahahaha

Just so ya know... I know what is happening..... but HOW it is happening, and why only the last song, is a mystery to me.
Jeff Romard 01-03-2008, 02:50 AM Because its an irritation and one alot of people wouldn't notice. If the whole disc wouldn't rip everyone would pick up on that and the hollering and lawsuits would start
My guess is its all part of a bigger plan
jokerswild 01-03-2008, 03:13 AM I would agree it's probably a data file attached to the last song... this happens to me alot with Chartbuster karaoke discs... so I used KJ-Rip n Zip from www.kjamp.com it's for ripping cdg's but you could probably get away with tryin to rip just a mp3...
Papa Deuce 01-03-2008, 03:22 AM BTW, so my point, which I forgot to make is..... what is to stop the companies from putting a really good song on a CD as the last song and then doing whatever Disney is doing?
Jeff Romard 01-03-2008, 03:25 AM If everyone that bought the disc expecting fair use either returned it to the store as broken or bought the MP3 from Itunes and shared it on Limewire mabye Disney would reconsider thier fair use policy....
jokerswild 01-03-2008, 03:28 AM You know if there was any music on those discs that would even remotely interest me I'd go get a copy and try ripping them myself to see if I have the same problem... but I really can't stand any of them and since I'm not doing kiddy parties I have zero use for them.
Jeff Romard 01-03-2008, 03:35 AM If you took a look around the internet you could probably find a way to break the copyright protection (Hint Hint (http://help.lockergnome.com/))
Kirby Ball 01-03-2008, 09:49 AM Careful Papa! Ya don't want to mess with Walt, he might have to come back from the dead and haunt you! :sqwink:

WaydeWest 01-03-2008, 10:06 AM While I wouldn't put it past Disney, I don't think the issue is intentional. I believe Disney CDs also come with CD-ROM features, perhaps there is a directory link in the final song to transition from audio to the additional features and your ripping software is having trouble parsing that.
It just doesn't make any sense to lock only the last song on a disk (unless it was "the song" to have on that disc), which is why I think it is just a bizarre software glitch. I've ripped Disney CDs that I purchased in the Parks (ride and show music) with no problem.
Bryan Durio 01-03-2008, 10:13 AM They are probably CDs with some sort of video or auto-run file on them. The same thing has happened to me before and the culprit was one of those two things.

2 of them do, and 2 of them don't...
Steve Sharp 01-03-2008, 10:26 AM I'm with Rob and Bryan on this one, and simply ask:
Chuck is there multimedia content on these discs?
While I haven't run into this in a while, I think my method of getting past this error was using itunes instead of audiograbber to rip the disc. Worth a try, either way.

Nah, but mostly because I won't need those songs anyway. They are just filler.
SoftJock Rick 01-03-2008, 08:47 PM Did I ever tell you folks that I was a secret, undercover RIAA agent...?
We've tried to lead you on the path to righteousness, but NO! Ripping, copying, playing music, dancing, all sorts of devilish behavior:sqerr:
Yes, this will all go into your permanent records...sigh
Hang on, I gotta flip the disc for the light scribe thingy, be back in a bit...
