flame 01-05-2008, 12:23 PM i've desided to upgrade the old, rusty light system...just ordered 2 vue IIIs and researchingl LED additions...pars, panels,etc...what i need from you guys are your suggestions on adding to the VUEs...which controller, panels, pars you think would make for the best effects without draining my budget...i'll probably dump another grand into devices this week...so, let's get started!!!
I have the ADJ Mega Panels, not cheap but two of these can cover a large area. One thing you will find with the VUE IIIs is that it is a pain setting up your own chase, and will probablly just run it in sound active mode in a master slave setup.
Jon Tuck 01-05-2008, 12:50 PM Flame please pm Tyrone our resident expertas he wrote the book and also Ben from NLFX can set you up with correct choices for your money.
flame 01-05-2008, 12:53 PM jon..i plan on chatting with tyrone and ben after i gather some "working experience" suggestions from the gang...
knardini 01-05-2008, 12:56 PM Purchase #1 HAS to be some LED pars...there are a lot of brands out there...I think most will suggest the Weidamarks (sp?) I have some Chinese no names that are KILLER...paid $125 a piece for them. They are 4 channel, harder than some to program but plenty bright and look great!
Jon Tuck 01-05-2008, 01:07 PM Martin EFX lines are nice and would be complete with 2 or 4 of the Weidamarks Cans.
NLFX Pro 01-05-2008, 02:12 PM Probably the most popular fixtures are the Par200B and ColorPallet from Chauvet, or the P64 LED PRO from American DJ. That's a pretty serious fixture, and maybe a bit over kill for a DJ. The trick is going to be getting enough fixtures, that do enough, for under a grand. The P64 is probably out of reach when you factor contoller, etc. I'd give the 200B or ColorPallet (panel fav) a strong look. As for controller, do you prefer console or software? Both have their pros and cons. I'd be happy to discuss that, and Tyrone will be a wealth of knowledge on the subject as well.

LOL. I was quite a site at the office today. We're all burning the midnight oil for tradeshow season. We have 2 guys in LA at the AFCA show right now, then NAMM in less than 2 weeks, then Mobile Beat, Halloween, and Worship shows all before the end of March! Poor Kat is going to really need a vacation by then.
Any chance to needle Kat with Duece as my witness cannot go by unheeded. :) Thanks for the nice order today Papa.

Alphabet 01-06-2008, 09:26 AM Might I throw another possible fixture into the mix? (God, I sound like Cap!)
I was told be a very wise Rocket Scientist (Nick Burke from Prodj.com) that when building a light show, you always want to start with color fill.
In this case, I see the Par 64 Pros are suggested, BUT, if $ allows, take a look at the ADJ Punch Pro LEDs! I just picked up a pair of them to replace my P64 LEDs & the increased coverage area is pretty impressive.
Like most, my lighting show is scaleable - but at a minimum, I will take out a pair of the Punch Pro LEDs & 1 effect - either an Acrobat, a Revo III, a Raptor & then build from there... Scanners, a 2nd Acrobat, etc.
Another WOW effect - The Bliss 15!!! - www.blisslights.com Thanks again, Ben!
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Joe
Tyrone Blue 01-07-2008, 03:06 AM I just got back from a show where I used 8 color palettes. Next to my LED par 64's, I really love the Palettes. I highly recommend them, and Ben has GREAT prices on them.
I'm posting a video of them from Sat night in another thread in this forum... check it out.
Tyrone Blue 01-07-2008, 03:23 AM I tried taking video with my digital camera. It turned out marginally OK, but the still picture was much better. Video is downloading right now.
lights4321 01-07-2008, 09:00 PM flame, what do you have as far as trussing goes? LED lights make great truss warmers. I would also suggest some fixtures that would be great for slower songs. Too bad those American DJ Pearl fixtures dont perform so well when slowely rotating. Looks like they didn't use very high quality motors.

Now THAT is sexy! :D
