Corp Holiday Parties

By all accounts that I have heard, most every DJ was down this year in number of events.

Seems like a lot of us who used to do smaller mid-week events, lost those this year... It is too bad but a sign of the times?

How did your Dec go with Corps? Up Down?

Down, mostly by our desire to take some time off and we didn't really pursue those events this year.

My company not only cancelled having a DJ, but also moved the party into our building. No entertainment, little food, little drink.

There is one that we are going after next year. It's our AFSCME union holiday party. Coreen and I figure that since both of us are card-carrying members of that union, it might give us that "foot-in-the-door"....

One of our corporate parties that we do, holds their's in January instead of December due to the lower rates and availability of the venue.

Chuck... those are the types of gigs I miss,,, I used to do weekday at the "store, plant, factory" and play some games, do some music they would use my mic for announcements... I used to do them even during the day... Charge 300, 400 for a few hours and still be able to do a club gig that night...

I had 2 corporate Christmas parties this year, and had to turn down 4 others since I was booked for the dates. Also had one other organization Christmas party. But I did have the entire middle weekend open. One thing about Huntsville that's helps with the corporate gigs, there are 100s of mid sized companies here that do government contracting, along with several automotive based companies. More and more seem to be coming in every year.

Best year in the last 4. Just great. The only problem was a complete lack of normal advanced booking. Literally NO ONE gave me more than 2 weeks, and had as little as 2 days. I think, due to the economy, people waited until the last minute to see whatt money they had left for the holiday bash...
