I'm sorry that I haven't been around in awhile, but I have been going though a lot medically the last few months.

Matter of fact, as I type this right now I am recovering from having six teeth removed just this morning!

This last year, 2007, has brought a lot of medical changes for me that I am not used to, but hopefully what I had done this morning will be the beginning of the end for my pain and medical future!

Photographically speaking, I am still as sharp as a tack and will hopefully be available for advice for all who need it!

I'm sorry I haven't been available in the last few months, but am ready to help all those in need of digital photography problems from now on!

Nice to see you back!

Thank!

Due to a lot going on this past year (2007), I only did two DJ gigs this past year . . .

However, my last gig was a trial gig with a PC . . . so may be switching over in 2008!

Welcome back John! Glad to see you back in the saddle. Interestingly, my first digital gig was this past Friday evening and I won't be going back to the cd's.

Any new digital cameras that you'd recommend with zooming for sporting events, preferably in the $500 - $600 range.

John, I wish you the best and hope your health continues to improve. You are the one we look to when we need advice, and it's good to have you back.

No need to say your sorry for not being around. You had good reason. And for you to make yourself available for advice and offer your help with all of our photo related problems after what you have been through, well, it shows what an unselfish and generous person you really are. I think I speak for everyone when I say thank you. Your willingness to help us is most appreciated.:sqwink:

Thanks all!

Well . . . 2008 has come in with a BANG :cannon::tank2: . . .

Or should I say crash . . .

Last weekend my wife was in an auto accident . . . she's OK, but the car was totalled!

I, of course, went to the scene the next day and documented it in photos.

Anyway, it was one of those 'both drivers at fault' as it was at an entrance to a shopping center, but we got the ticket since one of the occupants of the other car was taken to the hospital in an ambulance (thats what the officer told her, anyway).

And . . . he is still in the hospital (as far as we know)!

She was making a left turn into the parking lot across two lanes of traffic, which was backed up past the turn in, two vehicles left room for her to turn and waved her to make the turn . . . then the other car in the accident was in the right turn only lane, but went straight and crashed in to our car.

They were traveling pretty fast for a right turn only lane . . . which did continue on from the entrance to the parking lot as there is a stoplight about 100 feet from the parking lot entrance.

Now . . . here is the kicker . . .

The two guys in the other car are both handicapped . . . and the injuries were quite possibly more severe due to the handicap.

The driver wasn't hurt . . . the passenger is the one still hospitalized (as far as we know).

They claim he broke a couple of extremeties and his neck, as well as various other internal injuries!

Now . . . we have complete full coverage on both of our vehicles . . . they have basic coverage (called PL/PD here).

Our contact at the insurance company has told us that the driver has already asked our insurance company to replace their car with a new one . . . to which they informed him that they are not . . . and told him that he needs to contact his own insurance company.

Well . . . without writing a novel here, they have hired one of those 'We'll get you every penny you deserve!' lawyers that you see on TV . . .

:sqconfused::angry1:

Anyway . . . at the store I saw some photos coming out of the machine in the lab.

Some shots of the same intersection where the accident occured . . . and some of a guy in a hospital bed and one other person .

Well, as it turns out, these are the same people that were involved in this accident.

Now, my first thought was to make an extra set of these prints, but my moral upbringing told me that this would not be the right thing to do, not to mention that it could create a legal hassle for the store and myself.

The photos pretty much showed that the injuries were not as severe as they made it sound . . .

I'll keep you posted . . .

And . . . on top of all of this . . . my coffee maker died on me Tuesday morning . . . :sqerr:

John:

You guys will be in our prayers.

I really don't know what to say. One thing I'd do is contact a lawyer and be honest about the photos you saw.

The other thing I'd do is keep anymore details about this off the boards.

Glad to hear that the wife is ok. It's sad to see how sue happy our nation is these days.
The first thing they can think of is buying a new car on your insurance companies dime.
I was rear ended in my truck a couple of years ago. Sure! I could of stayed in the front seat and and bitch and moan about back problems, instead I got out and made sure the people that hit me were ok. I knew my insurance would cover me and my damages, but some people just feel it's a big pay day.
