Ok so I'm sold on Rockit... and will be purchasing very soon.... but want to get started tweeking

Can you simply take one of the smaller skins and in the XML tell it to be "Width=1280" and "Height=1024" without having to be a graphics wizard and create an actual 1280x1024 background?

Doing the math if I take one of the 800x600 and multiply by 1.60 or basically increase the size by 60% I get a 1280x960 skin.... but streatching a 800x600 image is that possible without it lookin like crap?

I like the DarkGray skin but just want it larger... without too much hassle. Then later when I get a wild hair up my arse I might modify it to have a larger Autoplay window and start moving objects around...

Also can I apply this same theory to the X,Y positions? so if an object is at say 60x70 i could then change it's position to 96x112....

If this is all in the manual I'll read it but a quick and dirty would be helpful.

Sorry, I wish I could tell you that it was that easy. Photoshop has a navigation window that allows you to see the x y position. It helps to get you in the right area, but there's still a lot of hit & miss that goes on. When you scale down a wider skin, all the button positions change as well as the sizes. A great looking skin can take hours.

Well crap then what would you recomend that isn't gonna break the bank... I certainly can't afford Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop Elements don't seem like it would cut it... plus I really don't want to spend bucks just to make this fit my 1280x1024 screen resolution.... actually less than 1024 because I want my taskbar visable.... sure I could change the resolution just to use Rockit as is... but it makes my other stuff look like ka ka....

I started a tweak of the Vader skin. Best to redo what's there.
All I have to do is change all the smaller images and presto.

For the average user, unless you are doing high end graphic work, Photoshop Elements can do (just about) everything that Photoshop can do. Adobe doesn't advertise this, they simply push it as a home photo editor. However the core is still Photoshop.

Hey Rob,

Just a thought, but the easy way is to just change your screen resolution to 1024x768 -- it will then fit perfect, and the controls will be larger, and easier to use... :)

I use Dual Displays.... this wont work for me.... makes my TV display funky and also makes my desktop look like crap...

I did try 1280x960 and the two tone skin and that seems to work fine... just miss the Stop button on the players which in automix fades immediatly to the next track or resets the track to the start if not in automix mode... I found other ways to do the quick fade to the next track tho....

I use dual displays as well -- I'm a dually :sqlaugh:

What a lot of folks did with the old version (it was limited to 1024x768), was just switch before running Rockit, then switch back afterwards -- only a couple clicks :)

Anyway, as far as the controls not being there, you can always replace them in the skin with another you want, or just map a keyboard shortcut...

I'm a big fan of keyboard shortcuts, and you can also create as many shortcut mappers as you like... Virtually all commands are available in the shortcuts :) ;)

Ok I was able to satisfactorally modify the Two Tone skin from the sight by simply editing it in paint and adding to the bottom of it... which extends the skin to the bottom now all i have to figure out is how to exted the lists, ML, and directory trees to extend into the additional bottom i created... so I'll tweek that....

It's not exactly what I want reall I would just like to extend the bottom of the skin... because it's a nice fade... but it works when I get a program like photoshop I'll fix it better...
