Ideal Wedding Lighting

It seems my post about missing out on a booking stirred some interested and a few even sold lighting packages after thinking about it.

Lets think about the ideal lighting setup for a wedding.

You don't want it to be too big or costly. I give a free basic setup with all weddings as it is a standard for my area.

Ideally if we were going to choose what would be the lighting setup to give the elegant appeal vs looking like a HS dance?

I really hope to spend a few min with Tyrone in Vegas, and I'm attending his workshop but lets start the ball rolling on this one.

I don't want to dump my lights as i know I will use them. I need something better. to make my package. I currently own: 4 DJ Scan 250, 2 Martin EFX 600, 2 Martin Raptor, 2 American DJ Aggressor, 8 PAR 64 (standard) 1 Robo Scan 812 and about 6 other non-dmx older effect lights

My original summer plans were to add 4 LED Pars, and 2 Moving Heads

The setup:

Cost Effective
Elegant
Versatile
Easy to setup
Easy to transport
Wow Factor

Would something like 4 LED Pars and 2 Moving Heads and an EFX 600 be a good base package?

My Current basic is 2 Raptors and an EFX 600 non dmx

As you said. This would be perfect.

There are several trains of thought regarding lighting at weddings. Take Kevin for example. His are "elegant" and simple, with lots of cool equipment. His show is the epitome of simple, classy elegance.

Mine are big and flashy with lots of lights and truss for the "nite club" experience. You need to offer the choice to your customer and go with that.

Shouldn't take up much space.

EZ to transport

EZ to set up (Plug & Play)

Doesn't look like a HS Dance

Every area is different.

Brother Cam,

Cap Capello has posted some pics of his very elegant lighting setup. You may wish to contact him to ask about specifics.

My normal wedding lighting is:

VUE III aimed at ceiling
2 ADJ megapanels, usually running dimmed
1 ADJ Starball II
2 small LED par cans for uplighting.
sometimes a Chauvet Kinta.
Lately also use the "Kevin" Lighted speaker stands

But have had several where they wanted the full system with hazer

That looks great.

How did you wire that speaker on the OTHER side of the room?

LOL your wedding lights are better than mine. I bring 2 EFX 600's and thats it. It always seems to do the job just fine.

This is just an Onstage 12' crank stand with a T-bar on top

There is an XLR cable running around the room over the door. You can see a silver connector on the top right edge of the door.
