About 5 days before Saturday's event (company Holiday party) we were informed that they will be doing "Let's Make A Deal".:sqeek:

Now, we don't do a lot of "non-wedding" events and don't have a lot of experience with all this "game" and "interaction" stuff that a lot of you are used to.

Of course the first thing that I do is pull out all the CDs that I have that have "TV" Theme songs on them. You know what I'm talking about.:sqwink: And of course we do have the needed them music for their game.

I also made sure I had some "cheesy" sound effects, like "clapping" "loud buzzer" "aaawwww" "rim shot" and numerous others.

We basically winged it and it went off really well. One of the managers at this company, Russ was "Monty" and his Fiance was the "Gift-girl" and of course I was the "cheesy announcer"......

God we had fun. During the interludes, or while we were waiting for someone to come up from the back of the room, or even while Russ downed a shooter....I would fill in with off-beat TV theme songs.

The crowd really got a kick out of it and were absolutely having a blast with it. Russ and I used to work together and he has a great sense of humor so he and I were able to bounce off on another like we had everything planned out, which we didn't.

It was nice to stretch out of my normal routine and do something "completely different", at least for me.

(Oh yeah, we booked Russ and his Fiancee's wedding this summer also!)

Me too! :) We should have some photos from Saturday night, but we haven't loaded them or looked at them yet. I'll see if there's anything in there to post.

Normally this company just does a straight drawing from the hat, but this year they decided to go with something a bit more fun.

The crowd was really getting into it, yelling out "Door number one", "Door number two", etc. And of course the drunker they got, the louder they got! :sqeek:

They had gag prizes behind the doors too (no donkeys or elephants though:sqfrown:)......

It really worked out much better than I thought it would. Once Russ and I got going it really went pretty smooth! :sqwink:

doing the "outa the norm" events are always fun and exciting!

One of the things that I think make me a good DJ/MC is that I think fast,,, witty, or stupid depending on how you look at it! LOL

But when you do parties like this one, it makes you realize that there are oppertunities out there to make money with doing other types of gigs.... :)

I have played lets make a deal on occasion in bars.

I hide things in boxes and envelopes and people can trade for other deals. It ends up beeing fun. We get alot of prizes from the beer reps. It can be anything good from a free beer or t-shirt to the owner paying you bar tab or a really nice neon sign. Or it can be something bad like one of my old shoes or a pack of Ramon noodles. I generally tie in some trivia with it to have contestants answer a question to win their 1st prize. from there they can trade it for an envelope, whats in the box, or a picture of the prize i put up on the TV screen.
