Altogether I have about 18 LED PAR cans around my club. They have red, green, blue LED's, about 25 for each color. Most are in working order, but some seem to display the same type of problem.
The broken ones one paticular color doesn't work. Almost as if that bank of colors was wired (i'm guessing) in series. Sometimes just 1/2 of one color will work.
Has anyone with a similiar problem ever tried DIY repair on these kinds of units?

Toqer - what brand is the unit? If you've only had them for a short while, send them back to the manufacturer for a fix it job. Check the jumper cables from one unit to the next. Make sure the input/output connections are tight. Check the dip switches (if there are any) on the controller unit. Check the controller unit itself to see if any of the settings have been changed or monkeyed with without your knowledge.

I've already checked all that stuff. Brands are:
16 Omnisistem par38 LED
2 Nightsun par 56 LED
I guess I could try to send them out but they're at least 2 years old now.

Only because all of the same colors are not working, I'm guessing the programmer did a "hic up". Try reprogramming and see if you can get red to come back on. If that's the problem, you'll have to re-program the system.
The only other idea is that someone messed with the dip switches and shut off part of the fixture.

Try setting all of them to the same DMX Address and bringing everything up to full. That will let you know if everything is working fine. Another option is setting them to sound active or some sort of self test mode and observing what comes on.
Most of the DJ grade LED lighting is built so cheap that you should expect to see a few LED's go out before their hours are up, regardless of however many thousand hours they claim to last. A lot of it has to do with proper cooling of the electronics (ie. heatsinks).
Please correct me if I'm wrong though!!
