SoftJock Rick 01-26-2008, 04:44 PM Yes, I am stumped -- my brain cannot remember this one :sqerr:
It was in the early 90's (somewhere between 90-93). A bunch of us used to hang out at a bar in midtown called Charlie O's, right outside Grand Central Station. They had one of the early digital jukeboxes - green screen :)
Anyway, some of the songs we used to play at the time were:
Rush - Big Audio Dynamite
Wild Thing - Sam Kinison
Violent Femmes
That sort of time frame.
There was this one song, my brain keeps telling me was by Dylan or Tom Petty or somebody like that, that was upbeat, sorta a driving tune, that you wouldn't expect from somebody like that. Wasn't like a real big hit that I remember, but I was doing the corporate thing at the time, and I wasn't on top of the charts.
We hung at the bar from 11 - 2pm everyday for "lunch", so my brain cells were fried at the time, and I just can't recall what it was...
Anybody have any clues that might help...?
Request Line Productions 01-26-2008, 05:23 PM A Girl Like You - Edwyn Collins ?

Request Line Productions 01-26-2008, 05:24 PM 6th Avenue Heartache - The Wallflowers?
One Headlight - The Wallflowers?
Lonesome Johnny Blues - Cracker?
The Way - Fastball?
SoftJock Rick 01-26-2008, 05:40 PM I wish I could remember the lyrics, but I was going through big migraine attacks at the time, and drinking heavily (a few Mind Erasers every day for lunch, with 4-5 beers as chasers) :sqerr: :sqeek:
I just remember it having a driving beat -- kinda one that if you were in a car, you would quite easily exceed the speed limit -- a "groove" sorta thing
The thing I do remember, is that it was by a big name, and not somebody I would expect that type of song from...
barry stamper 01-26-2008, 06:33 PM gosh Rick was it a rock song? When you said driving song ...Wagon wheel came to mind (not sure why) that's a Bob Dylan tune right?

Sensoria - Cabaret Voltaire

WaydeWest 01-27-2008, 02:39 AM Tom Petty - Runnin' Down A Dream
djkenowens 01-27-2008, 10:11 AM bob dylan's "jokerman" comes to mind, but it really wasn't a hard hitting song, just out of character for him. I'd tend to go with 6th avenue heartache being the one you're looking for, lead singer was dylan's son wasn't he?
"Handle With Care" (Traveling Wilburys)
it had BOTH Bob Dylan & Tom Petty on it.
Its a great driving song......made popular again on the "Jack-FM" radio format!
Jon Tuck 01-27-2008, 03:35 PM Wow Ken its nice to see you around once again we missed you my friend!!:sqcool:bob dylan's "jokerman" comes to mind, but it really wasn't a hard hitting song, just out of character for him. Wagon Wheel...Old Crow Medicine Show.
SoftJock Rick 02-04-2008, 01:56 PM Yes Will, I know I'm being "one of them" :sqerr:
It's just one of those tunes, that if I hear it, or see the name, I will remember it. I think it's a sort of testament to my older years... :sqeek: :sqlaugh:

B-Sharp 02-10-2008, 12:53 AM For my first post, I'm going to throw out two songs that came to mind:
"Are You Gonna Go My Way" by Lenny Kravitz (1993)
"I Drove All Night" by Roy Orbison (recorded in 1987, released in 1992)

Rick,
Weed was much stronger in the early 90’s.

Geesh Rick!!! We hear enough of this at weddings & now we have to hear it when we are not working? You are just plain mean...:sqmad: :sqlaugh:  :sqwink: :sqeek:
DJ JohnThe1 02-10-2008, 02:02 PM Rick! The best way to remember this song is to get drunk and then think about it. It might come back to you in that state of mind. Weed helps also. Hope it works.
