Video Pricing ~ How much?

How do you price your video service? Is it an add on? A complete package? How much higher is it than just music.

At a Bridal show this past weekend, I told a future bride how much more the video and big screen was and her "face hit the floor". I quoted her the same price as the music. (So the total is double the music price for music and video). Was my price to high? I'm trying to feel out the market before I invest. I want to determine if there is a market for it here.

What should I be charging? (Dollar wise, percentage in relation to the music price, etc . . .)

Should the price be $100 or so over the main music price. We're just setting up the big screen and projector.

If I were offering video... first of all yes it would be an add-on and certainly not at the same cost as the DJ service....

I would have to first figure out what the PITA factor of doing video was and then determine setup, tear down and other factors including "do I need an assistant to do the video mixing or can I manage it myself while DJ'n at the same time...

Video Cost $300 for Subscription music videos and I would count on 2 Projector Bulbs $400.

Projectors are used for other events but I need to make $400 a year to break even on music video.

Inital Investment was 2 Projectors $2400 - 2 Screens $1200 - Bunch of Music Videos $2100.

$5700 Kinda a big investemet I already had the computer and Virtual DJ to run it.

So if you are not into video yet these are what kinda expenses to look at. You need to charge what will get you to even without not booking because of price.

How much have you invested and how long to you expect to make your return. I expect return on all purchases in 2 year or or I don't buy them because they should be replaced in 3 that gives 1 year of profit. But some things like music, karaoke, and videos last forever. It's just the harware that needs upgraded

Thanks Guys!

DJCam, I quoted her more than that for one screen. Maybe I was to high.

I was thinking of making the money back in one year.

$799 would be 4 Hours not on a Saturday. 1 Projector. Lighting would be 4 scanners, 2 raptors, and an EFX600. A 40 Pictire photo montage.
Sound would be standard 2 mains and a sub.

With my current special I'd do it for $650.
