Well Microsoft and Google have been cozying up to each other for a while. Over the summer Yahoo allowed you to add MSN contacts to your buddy list and vice versa.

I'd like to see this deal go through, I still don't think both of them together will be a major contender to Google but it'd be nice to see some refreshed competition in the the search engine and context based advertising arena.

Maybe Bill Gates can fix "Yahoo Local"......they're getting whipped by Yelp, CitySearch, Merchant Circle, and Google Maps....

I think it's a good match.

I've worked with all three, and out of the bunch, Google is by far the biggest thief out there!

Anything that can put a damper on them, and bring some competition into the field, I am for.

I think Bill Gates is overpaying for Yahoo.

they are poorly managed and have lots of problems.

If MS had waited, they could have paid 1/2 or 1/3 the 44.6 billion they are offering.

If this transaction goes thru, the value of MS stock will plummet.

In the short term, maybe. In the long term, I disagree. Microsoft can't get its act together with search. Yahoo, at least know THAT part of their business.

Oh course you can only use MS-Yahoo if you use Windows Vista with Internet explorer. Website not built with MS or on an MS server, oh sorry you won't be listed.

Not too far fetched considering MS Live has been caught blocking websites from their search engine if they say anything negative about MS.

As of the close of the market today it sounds like both the House and the US Senate are going to look into this potential merger. As of close of business no indication from yahoo they were interested.......Today was the day to sell that yahoo stock.....

I guess when 80% of my calls & e-mails say they found me in Google,

that tells me that Yahoo is not viable in search.

Then again, maybe I'm just doing better on Google because Google is a better search engine.

And, I'm doing really great without having to pay the Googlemeister any hard cash.

Web site revisions and good reviews have propelled me to the top of the Big G.

I never even bother to check my position in Yahoo or Yahoo Local. Nobody even uses them anymore!
