It seems that RealPlayer installation means more junk on your computer that you don't want and will have trouble getting rid of! :sqeek:

Thanks for the heads-up! I hate RealPlayer because it sounds like crap, anyway.

The Real utilities have always carried spyware. RealPlayer, RealJuke... they're loaded with baddies. Comet Cursor is another one to avoid like the plague.

You can pull the spyware via cleaning utilities but there's still crap in the registry. Once the spyware is pulled, the Real utilities will no longer function.

I've been using Real Alternative since version 6 or 7.

I knew RealPlayer was bloatware, but I see the deep queezies I felt about it being more sinister back then weren't just hunger pangs. :D

I have hated everything real player has ever done. I remember the original real player programs crashing my Windows 95 back in the day. I have avoided them ever since.

You have to jump through 15 hoops just to get the free version typically and they bug you at every point to pay $15 - $100 for a super duper version.

No.

Exactly. They're hijack utilities. But many puter users didn't realize that. Real Player was supported by song sampling scripts for a long time. I haven't seen it lately, though.

Hijack This! (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php) :D
