I have a behringer dsp2024 Virtulizer pro that I am trying to control thru my computer. You're supposed to be able to change the effects program thru midi but for the life of me I have no idea what to do, despite reading the intructions several times.

the specifications for the machine are here http://www.behringerdownload.de/DSP2024P/DSP2024P_PSHEET_Rev%20A.pdf

If anyone could try to explain midi like I was a 4yr old *I never understood that expression, a lot of the 4 year olds I've met are a lot smarter than me in some respects* and maybe post an example I'd really appreciate it.

James,

You need some sort of software to send the MIDI commands.

MIDI is a simple communications protocol, and allows the device and another device/computer to talk to each other.

I'm not familiar with the unit you are talking about, but I would imagine it came with some software. If not, you will have to write your own...

Yap MIDI is a communications protocol mostly used in making music where is used only to give the sequencer the high and lenght of the note.MIDI is also way to communicate betven devices like in youre case and betven controlers and lights for example.
Sorry that i cant help you James i have never used Midi control in simular cases like youres.

Or have Rick write it for you. I understand that he can be paid in beer.

Are you trying to run DJ software with the controller... I know Traktor, Virtual DJ and Ricks software have alot of it programmed... Traktor is easy to setup... you press the learn button and play with the funtion on the controller you want to use...

I have the same problem, well not really a problem, with my Behringer DEQ2496.... you are suposed to be able to control in thru midi sequences as well... but that's where the information gets droped .... they fail to tell ya the how or more importantly what software is used to commuicate with the device....
