We just returned "Across The Universe" to Blockbuster........after keeping the DVD for an entire week.
I saw it 3 times.... once with my wife, a second time with Allie, and a third time by myself.
This film is so much fun to watch--- there's gonna be a drinking game that people are going to play when they view the DVD.
How many Beatle songs, song titles, and Beatle movie references are in this film?
I could not count them all, even after 3 viewings.
Even the dialogue has Fab Four song titles...like when the Liverpool dock boss says "When I'm 64........" or when the lovely Prudence enters the film, and when someone says "Where did she come from?" -- Jude says "She came in through the bathroom window" (I was on the floor LMAO)
The character names, Jude, Prudence, Lucy, etc.....all invoke song titles.
Even key scenes in the film, are re-creations of scenes in Beatle movies, like Hard Day's Night, Help, Yellow Sub, and of course the famous ROOFTOP SCENE in "Let It Be."
as they say, "Third time's a charm" and I watched the entire DVD by myself with a checklist of dozens of Beatle tunes. When I was finished....nearly the entire list had been exhausted.
Each time you watch this film, you'll see something that you missed before.
