Mr. K 02-22-2008, 12:38 AM I really hate that song, YAH (or whatever, by whomever). You know, the recent one, where these two hosers jump up and down yelling YAH at everybody because they don't wanna do their homework and stuff like that. I saw the video for the second time ever last night, and I still cannot sleep--cuz it sucks so much.
Brian Martin 03-01-2008, 10:34 PM Yeah, I must agree with you. I hate it too. You are so right and I was thinking the same thing. It really does suck, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. It's just hard to understand these people.

I think it's a Soulja Boy tune.

DJ Ronster 04-08-2008, 12:38 AM It's Soulja Boy alright. Yah B**ch is the name. The radio version is called Yah Trick and both are pure crap.
DJ Ronster 04-08-2008, 12:42 AM So when I looked up 'trick' on the PC one of the tracks that came up was It's Tricky by Run DMC. Had to play it and now the wife and 3 month old baby are dancing to it!

Not really. I played Yaah once and decided I would never play it again until requested. It has never been requested.

I have a 52" tv in my basement courtesy of Jimmy Ray...
I'll put $20 on yah going number one at Rhythm
Requests are such a fickel thing having been in programming as long as i was i learned and got to experience the amount of ACTIVE P1s verse our actual Cume, lets take a station i worked at in Norfolk Arb market 30 at the time (so about 10 sizes down from Pittsburgh)
We had a cume of over 1,000,000 at any given moment that's audience
but we used Broadcast Electronics, call counters and we maybe, and i use this lightly Maybe had 2,000 phone calls per week, #1 18-34, #2 12+ in all day parts but get this we were mainstream and the #1 station was country so its safe to say that we had a local impact on pop hit sales in the market along with MTV and the beginnings of the internet...
so what im rambling and trying to say is that you can't use a "request" to gauge whether you are going to play a song or not youre going to be skewed every single time out.
Cam you do a lot of weddings and of course theres out a lot of out of town guests, I would guesstimate in Pittsburgh a lot of your younger out of town guests are coming from New York, Boston, Philly, California etc real contemporary areas so you need to be cognizant of whats moving in other parts of the country now naturally i wouldnt worry about a soulja boy song at a wedding but if you do all your music simply by requests you're not really playing the hits...
Im also sure that like most of us you may have experienced a lull and decided, hey im going to try this and it worked like mad.. well was that a request?
Anyway i initially didnt bring up Yah because i liked the song, just cause im sure it will be a hit.
When James Heathfield and joe daddio brought britney spears around at like 15 to tout hit me baby one more time and her aerobics videos, i despised the song but knew it'd be number one in less than 3 weeks. and sure enough it was...
