One problem I have with super new music is where to find it. I quit using promo only after getting tired of all the fluff on each disc, so now I buy by the song online....one thing that would help everyone out is not only the song but where you can find it online (if you happen to know)....I love the idea of "who can pick the hottest song" :sqwink:

Great Idea Jon, We might do by category, maybe...so us old f**** can participate..ie....a new Buble, Groban something along those lines or a new cover?
just 2 cents worth..??
ou812 02-22-2008, 02:53 PM I like both Janet's new song, as well as Paulas....both good club songs, but probably not going to do as well on the hip hop laden top 40. I havent heard the new Snoop song, but I do like Missy's Pom Pom song......
Keep the new hits comin guys!
I like Akon's version of MJ's Wanna Be Startin Somethin too.....
Jon Tuck 02-22-2008, 02:57 PM OR Jim better yet to fill the depth how about you resurrecting a title from the OLD days . Might sound like Im joking but all of us could gain by knowing stuff thats not being in rotation on the oldies channel but great stuff. Although some previous members might say they arent worthy I love being reminded of songs I wouldnt think of. That would be proper into its own thread but equally enjoyed by me. Since you know the dance steps to them you could include that gem as well. Sometimes I would love to have 20 go to cha chas or Salsa songs etc. What does everyone think of that idea as well?
Jon Tuck 02-22-2008, 03:00 PM Felli Fell has a new single out to and I have heard it cant recall the title (his Get Buck In Here was huge but I believe the new one could go big ) Brittanys new single dropped as well its ok but again I dont have the title here current. Fill in the blanks for me guys as Im preparing to go away for a week. Cam you and Sue can keep this alive if she is willing and Jim consider the other arena as well please.
DJ Cam 02-22-2008, 03:13 PM I brought a few songs back from the past last night.
Dr Dre - Keep Their Heads Ringin
Onyx - Slam
Jon Tuck 02-22-2008, 03:14 PM Love the SLam had forgotten about it ............ thanks Cam

I'd appreciate some suggestions for cha cha's, salsa's, any ballroom stuff really. I have a couple stand by's for the older folks but feel they may not be the best out there.
Jon Tuck 02-22-2008, 06:17 PM Jim your expertise deserves a full on thread buddy. Get to work LOL.
Meanwhile I wanted to list these here but will make a seperate thread as well for the ''Breakers'' as I call them songs which you must have yesterday for tonights gig. Those hot songs playing on the radio now. So I will backtrack here just this once.
1. Flo Rida-Elevator This one will be as big as low and is currently playing on the radio
2. Wyclef Jean-The Sweetest Girl Been playing for a bit and will have longevity nice melody.
3. Chris Brown-With You ITs growing on me but not like Kiss Kiss was instant for me.
And a New Breaker Which will be huge
4. Usher-Love In The Club (ft Young Jeezy) this will be fire give it just a little bit of time
Travis B 02-22-2008, 06:51 PM You were on the set of the music video filming?

IMO...2 Short is one of the most under rated artist of the past 20 years. He has his own style and sound that never made "radio". He is an awesome artist! Raw but real...thx
DJ Cam 03-03-2008, 08:41 AM This weeks adds:
Sean Garrett ft Ludacris - Grippin' (More of an R&B sound) Think this one should be a mainstream hit.
Jay-Z Ft Mary J Blige - You're All Welcome --- Probally not a Hit but it will generate request.
Bake Up Boys Ft Jim Jomes - Now I can Do That --- Sounds Like every other Rap song. I had a request for it Saturday seemed to go over ok.
Wiz Khalifa - Say Yeah --- Rapping over the back beat from Better off Alone. Not my idea of a good song. But again 3 request in 3 days.
Soulja Boy - Yah Bitch --- The Clean Version is Yah Trick -- Any how this is terrible, it's getting request. I'm not playing it it is so bad.
Ryan Leslie - Diamond Girl --- Kinda a 70's feel. I'm using it early in the night.
NON - RAP ------ NEW HITS
Ferras - Hollywood's Not America --- Great Song I'm going to check out the rest of the Album.
Metro Station - Shake It --- Kinda Like Good Charlotte sounding. I think It's cool and Different and has a Big 80's Feel.
Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love --- Kinda Slower but it's a decent song.
Juipter Rising - Electropop --- Another Cool 80's sounding Song
barry stamper 03-03-2008, 11:22 AM just got my new T-Series and was checking out the tracks and came accross the new Ying Yang Twins song "DROP" this may not be new too some people but I predict this song will be Big!!

That was on Promo Only Back In Feb Release date was 01/10/08. I tried it with no success. It has gotten absouletly no Radioplay and deos not look like it will. It is a decent song but without radio, no song has much chance of success.

I don't doubt you, as many times we see songs fail and resurface in 6 months to a year.
I can get playlist for every radiostation including sat radio. I currently don't have access to MTV, MTV2, VH1, and Fuse Music playlist.
If someone knows were I can find the Music TV playlist it would greatly appreciated.
Steve Sharp 03-05-2008, 02:56 AM just got my new T-Series and was checking out the tracks and came accross the new Ying Yang Twins song "DROP" this may not be new too some people but I predict this song will be Big!!
From what I understand, the Ying Yang Twins' label, TVT is on the verge of filing for bankruptcy.
Regardless of how good this song sounds, this part of the backstory can't be good for the promotion of this song.
If it's great and it "dies", this could be why.
DJ Cam 03-05-2008, 10:30 AM Here it is I'm dropping the Bomb. One of the Most anticipated songs of the year has hit the airwaves.
I think it may reach the level of Usher's - Yeah! but it a little early to tell.
As soon as I can find an outlet that you can get the song I will post I'm guessing it may be about 6 weeks before the song is on Promo Only or Tm Centry, but I could be wrong. I got mine leaked from a friend at a radio station.
Here it goes:
Madonna Ft Justin Timberlake Produced by Timbaland - 4 Minutes to Save the World
Jon Tuck 03-05-2008, 12:38 PM Cam and I have discussed the new music thread and what I propose is to make a list update it etc as the month goes and have a monthly list which can then be seen when the song finally hits the radio etc.Perhaps an alter post of the ones we actually got right.
jokerswild 03-05-2008, 01:26 PM I for one find this topic to be very informative so thanks for starting it... us mid-westerners aren't that hip to the new music scene as we are usually about 3-4 months behind which ever coast the hit starts on....

This is going over like crazy in my club. Just depends on where your at. But there's also a remix of it by Johnny Vicious BPM 129
Another one that is going great for me is Snoop Dogg's - Sensual Seduction (Wideboys remix)
BPM 127 It too is a hit at my club. First time I played it, it packed the floor!
DJ Sue 03-13-2008, 04:43 PM ok, put into rotation and took out ....Usher - Love In This Club BPM 70: cleared the floor and put us all to sleep
Mariah Carey - Touch My Body BPM 80: Again way too slow...sounds like something maybe Britney would have done. Maybe a remix of it will give it new life.
The Madonna/Justin - 4Minutes is pretty good, the crowd didn't dance to it, but the heads were boppin. A remix of this would be great too.
DJ Sue 03-13-2008, 05:50 PM Jj Flores - Being In Love (club Mix) Bpm 133
Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love (moto Blanco Remix) Bpm 128
Taylor Dayne - Beautiful (hex Hector Remix) Bpm 128
Samim - Heater (fedde Le Grand Remix) Bpm 126
LA LUPE - BESITO PA' TI (ROSABEL MIX) BPM 131
Jon Tuck 03-13-2008, 06:07 PM Sue thanks for covering as Im not doing so well in the memory dept since my fathers passing. I appreciate you stepping it up and keeping it rolling.

I'm playing all 3. I hate slow BPM song but people here just can't get enough of them. My busy nights are bars, people really don't expect to dance just want to hear good music. Kind different than a night club.
I like to always keep myself ahead of the other DJ's. I will be doing my music research for the weekend tomarrow as it was nice out today and I went golfing. I'm sure I will have a few new ones headed into the weekend.
Jon Tuck 03-13-2008, 09:47 PM Thanks Cam I hope to be back in action next week. appreciate you helping me out in this venture. I will get on that list and post it seperating them to month and then going back and giving it thumbs up or down if it was a hit or not.
So Cal Hugh 03-14-2008, 12:56 AM This kind of post is a dream come true.
Steve Sharp 03-14-2008, 01:58 AM I really like "4 Minutes", but I'm waiting for a longer version. As it ends at the 3:10(ish) mark, it totally sounds like it's about to go into a drum break... it needs it. I'm hoping for a longer version, which I might want to use to restructure it.
DJ Cam 03-14-2008, 12:54 PM I don't have alot this week but I did pull a few new ones for the weekend.
Snoop Dogg - Cool
Kasper from the K - Whatugonnado
GIT Fresh - Booty Music
Grind Mode - She's So Fly(and I'm so High)
Riskay - Smell That Chick
Piles ft Neyo - Bust It Baby Part 2

Curious...where are you getting all these songs so much sooner than you're getting from your subscription service?
DJ Cam 03-17-2008, 12:53 PM You asked I tell. If you would like to fight me on the issue so be it, I will just ignore you. 99% of my music is obtained though subscription service, and most of the time when I get it early it's on one of my cd's in the following months.
Sometimes I get promo's in the mail.
Somtimes they are emailed to me from friends in radio.
Sometimes friends in radio give me cd's
Sometimes people burn me cd's
Sometimes I download them.
Sometimes I save them in MP3 fromat from sirius radio.
Sometimes they are on the lesser used Subcription service like Promo Only Urban Club. Manytimes their Urban releases are 2 months ahead of radio.
DJ Sue 03-17-2008, 01:18 PM I don't use too many remixes. I have been playing this one for about 6 weeks it has gone over well an in regular rotation.
Just goes to show you how different areas go for different versions of songs. I too was TRYING to get the original to go over for me but it kept bombing on the dancefloor.
As soon as I got the remix, it's a floor packer!!

You are at a completely different ballpark. People here won't dance to anything that is not the version they hear on the radio.
I worked the clubs here over the years, there are a few smaller non-top40 clubs where people expect odd versions. But for the most part we keep it pretty simple and as close to the original versions of songs as possible. Sometimes funkymix is even too much.
I get away with tons of new music the place I work at now is just a hang out. We git a little bit of dancing but mainly people go there to shoot pool and drink.
DJ Sue 03-17-2008, 02:03 PM Understandable Cam. I too play tons of new music. I'm usually 8 months ahead of the radio stations here.

Wow, I'm not sure where the hostility is coming from--just asked a simple question.
DJ Cam 03-17-2008, 03:01 PM Wow, I'm not sure where the hostility is coming from--just asked a simple question.
Was not meant to be hostile. Generally anyone that admits to not legally obtaining music tracks is thrown under a bus.
I provided the honest truth. My music subscription is generally a few weeks to a month behind.
It was not meant to be mean, I'm sorry if I sounded standoffish.
Steve Sharp 03-17-2008, 06:43 PM Just got the LP version, which is only about a minute longer, but actually has a break when Timbaland calls for a break.
So Cal Hugh 03-18-2008, 03:41 AM I heard a cut of Four Minutes the other day. Sounds like it is waiting for the song to start all the way through.
I don't know if its ever been mentioned but I am a member at allaccess.com from my radio days, I've been a member for 10 years its free and the music resoruces are unbelievable. It was started by Joel Denver who used to be the CHR editor at R&R back when people used to read it.
The site which is free to join gives you access to an abbreviated mediabase. From there I make sure all my djs have a serato crate of all the currents of all of our local stations

I just use mediabase directly to look at the complete playlist of radio stations around the country.
I also look at the jump and the new adds. This is the biggest method I use to find my new music.
I have mediabase and BDS access as well i like allaccess because i can see with pd/md pics across the country what's coming around the corner. We get record service from just about everyone. Most of my regional reps from my radio days are VP's now and it makes new music easy for us.

DJ Enigma 04-25-2008, 06:59 PM I haven't seen any mention of this yet, so I'm going to boldly predict that "Love In This Club Part II" featuring Beyonce and Lil' Wayne is going to be extremely popular. If the original of "Love In This Club" and the Lil' Wayne fad is any indication, this one should be quite the requested song. Personally, I think Lil' Wayne's part was unnecessary but overall the song is actually quite good and catchy.

Wavy Davy 04-30-2008, 07:08 AM Check out the BBC Top 40 Singles each week - it changes so fast and there are always a few gems in there and it is SO varied.
Just Google BBC Top 40 Singles and listen to the bytes ;)
DJ Cam 04-30-2008, 07:13 AM UK charts don't really have much truth to US music.
I pay attention to them but most of my research comes from the # of actual US radio plays. Biliboard and the BBC are both biased where the radio station reports are accurate.

I guess I have been keeping up on updating this list I will try harder.
That one should have been added to this list months ago. I think I have been playing it since March.
If someone could change the stickes my list you would see on my most recent chart I have it as my number 2 song right now.
DJ Cam 07-15-2008, 06:54 PM Ok... got to head to work soon so the list will follow in the next day or so but here's some new hot rock songs.

Sports.Dj.Mason 07-18-2008, 10:19 AM Since youve been gone - A day to remember
Rock cover for the Kelly Clarkson song...:sqlaugh:
Paper Planes- This single was a self release a year and a half ago, jimmy iovine found it the same place he found soulja boy, myspace and now its burning up the phones in LA and New York. Theres a Lil Wayne remix so its bound to be a hit
Gavin Rossdale "Love Remains the same" I guess Gwen is finally letting him back in the studio
Katy Perry "Hot N Cold" follow up to the cross-format super hit I kissed the girls, definitely a 3rd into 4th quarter song, kids will love it because its Katy and she's different
Leona Lewis "Better In Time" I didnt get the same holy **** out of it that i got out of "bleeding" but its a hit and its there...
The 88 "Coming Home" its a cute little diddy that will remind people of the sing songedness of the monkeys nothing us mobiles would play to rock out a crowd but nonetheless its got potential my guess is it will peak at 25 at mainstream
Oasis "The Shock of The Lightning" - I think Liam fell off a bus and thinks he's bono. For me blah but you may be into that kind of thing
Jesse McCartney "It's over" - this is one of those 90bpmish half ballads, its evident Jesse has gone through some kind of break up.. to bad so sad.. really this song is crap but Jesse is the big thing now for the girls so it will probably do way better than it should.. similar to leavin... what does Jesse know about a G5 a G5.. other than thats the computer they probably used in the CD
Jon Tuck 08-21-2008, 02:14 AM thanks Kyle.
