Tyrone Blue 03-05-2008, 03:48 AM I broke down and bought two Acrobats. I found an almost new set on e-bay and snapped them up. The pictures looked like they were new, but the guy told me he had used them twice.
They should be arriving before this Friday, so I'm all excited to hook them up to a controller. I'm sure I can use them at the big gig in May, when the new club opens up.
Blinky blinky!
DJ Cam 03-05-2008, 10:04 AM I don't understand the facination with this light. I know you will put them to good and use their DMX capabilities. The Acrobat is typically the Lazy DJ's lighting setup. Of course If I found 2 of them at a good price I probally buy them and use them instead of my Raptors.
jokerswild 03-05-2008, 10:16 AM LOL.... what's wrong with a lazy DJ light setup..... hahahaha
If its easy I see nothing wrong with it.
Tyrone Blue 03-05-2008, 10:19 AM Only DMX baby... doesn't anyone know me?
Bryan Durio 03-05-2008, 10:33 AM The Acrobat is typically the Lazy DJ's lighting setup.
Good grief, Cam. Please stop your condescension! That chip on your shoulder must be pretty heavy.
DJ Cam 03-05-2008, 10:34 AM Only DMX baby... doesn't anyone know me?
I know you, that's why I said you will put them to good use and use their dmx capabilities.
Most dj's with acrobats plug them in and let them run off of sound.
Jon Tuck 03-05-2008, 12:28 PM hey Im only half lazy (I use a MC-1 Half Lazy controller, preset DMX) and Bryan easy killer ya havent met a better guy than Cam in person he only comes across this way at times. However hes from Pittsburgh must I say more? LOL
DJ Cam 03-05-2008, 12:49 PM Good grief, Cam. Please stop your condescension! That chip on your shoulder must be pretty heavy.
Do you always read between the lines and take things out of context?
1 - I said typically, that means not all.
Three of the guys that do contract work for me that is all they offer. I get a number of referrals for customers wanting more lights.
2 - I commented that I know Tyrone will put them to good use and use their Full full functionality buy using the DMX capabilities.
3 - I said if I found a good deal I would probably buy a pair myself.
Please read my post in their original context. You read my post as:
I can't see why anyone would buy a maritin acrobat. I think everyone that owns one is just lazy and they want the easy way out of lighting. So they buy an acrobat put it in sound response mode and that is their lighting package.
****If I ever bash someone, a product, or anything. You will know. I make all of my post with good positive intentions.
Maybe I should censor myself completly. nah...
PS Thanks, Jon

I don't always read between the lines, but I do read and I happen to have a half-decent command of the English language and I quickly pick up on the tone of what others write. I do not think I took your statements out of context; rather, I zeroed in on your intent. Check my signature. Words mean things.
"Typically" means "In an expected or customary manner; for the most part." Did I imply that I understood you to state "all"? Your use of "typically" is a generalization, meant in an unkind, accusatory way. Your posts typically drip with condescension, and it gets old very quickly, Cam. And yes, I meant to use the word. I do not think that you are a DJ God, no matter what you may think yourself.
To extrapolate from "three of the guys that do contract work for me that is all they offer" that "the Acrobat is typically the Lazy DJ's lighting setup" is generalizing to a fault. Who are you to assert such a thing? How many DJs do you know who use the Acrobat? How many of those don't use any other light? How many of those use additional lighting? How many of each group do you classify as lazy? Sometimes clients don't want concert lighting.
If you "get a number of referrals for customers wanting more lights," fine. Does that mean that everyone else gets a number of referrals for customers wanting more lights? I don't. What does it matter?
2 - I commented that I know Tyrone will put them to good use and use their Full full [sic] functionality buy using the DMX capabilities.
You made that statement AFTER I called you on your original post. Or did you miss that?
3 - I said if I found a good deal I would probably buy a pair myself.
That has nothing to do with my assertion.
****If I ever bash someone, a product, or anything. [sic] You will know. I make all of my post [sic] with good positive intentions.
Apparently not, because your posts typically read like daggers. If you have good intentions, you need a refresher course in the English language so that you can better express yourself.
Maybe I should censor myself completly [sic]. nah...
That would be a good start. Also, spell check is a useful thing.
jokerswild 03-05-2008, 03:00 PM Well that was entertaining.... lets get back on topic then.... shall we?
