This Is Very ImportantMr. K 10-21-2006, 07:28 PM http://www.adjrevolution.com How does this page look? Jon Tuck 10-21-2006, 07:32 PM Its as Borky as always. J/K:tank: Travis B 10-21-2006, 07:40 PM it is messed up Crappy Response... I appologize In FF the map is not in proportion with the states that are listed. In Both IE & FF the table that houses the members has text all over the place and not in an organized fashion. Jon Tuck 10-21-2006, 07:51 PM it is messed up Perhaps you explain in more detail wouldnt that be more productive? I dont see anything wrong on firefox. Mr. K 10-21-2006, 08:49 PM http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.adjrevolution.com If anybody understands how to fix anything, then please let me know. Thanks. Jon Tuck 10-21-2006, 09:25 PM I just rebooted my computer and as Bounce said now I see what he mentioned even on Firefox. Sorry Johnny I cant help ya. Mr. K 10-21-2006, 10:44 PM Did this do anything? Calling all experts. I changed my "encoding" from "windows-1252" to "utf-8" (one of the things w3c recommended). Did that help? I shall go back to tinker some more. Travis B 10-21-2006, 11:42 PM vinyl i'm gonna copy ur page over and look at it locally on my lappy. I'll give a synopsis later on what needs to be done, I did look at the validator and some of the stuff can slide. Mr. K 10-22-2006, 12:08 AM I just took out the map. http://www.adjrevolution.com Travis B 10-22-2006, 12:14 AM Vinyl, give this a look over, It was mearly a cosmetic issue that was causing confusion, I added colors and realigned the columns to make it more appeasing. You may need to take it into frontpage or dreamweaver and tweak it there, otherwise you can use it as a guide if you wish. Warning: It may not be as simple as uploading the htm page up and having it just work, you may need to do some tweaking. Mr. K 10-22-2006, 12:35 AM Is this what I'm supposed to see? http://thevinylspinner.tripod.com/bounce.htm If it is, then the only difference between what you did and what I did is the fact that the table is realigned and the colours are different. Eh? Mr. K 10-22-2006, 12:43 AM It was mearly a cosmetic issue that was causing confusion, I added colors and realigned the columns to make it more appeasing. Sorry. I get it now. This is exactly why I like feedback when I ask for it. I organised the table in this fashion weeks ago, and the little feedback that I got was good. My main concern was the map, which I have taken out entirely. I get what you're saying, but I like the listings the way they are: they ARE organised. Travis B 10-22-2006, 03:18 AM If it is, then the only difference between what you did and what I did is the fact that the table is realigned and the colours are different. Eh? ... and borked your images beyond recognition. ;) I like how you phrased your response :sqlaugh: Edit: As for table, organized, yes. Asthetically pleasing, imo, no. Not a slam. I would refer to something like this (http://www.howtodj.info/index.php/Talk:Main_Page) see how it is in a hiarchial view. Vinyl, i'll do some research for you and model after what some other mainstream websites and how they are organizing their long lists of data and how might you better be able to do so. Tip: Get a method and stick with it, if your current model is working for you, then don't change it, however it is easier to change now than in the long run. jfactor1 10-22-2006, 03:52 AM If you have the ability to do MY SQL, John Neetz (Bigtime) wrote some code that would be perfect for the listings. jfactor1 10-22-2006, 03:52 AM BTW, those colors suck. Mr. K 10-22-2006, 03:53 AM Edit: As for table, organized, yes. Asthetically pleasing, imo, no. Not a slam. I would refer to something like this: http://www.adjrevolution.com :p Thanks...cuz a mainstream website is exactly what I'm aiming for :p:p I got a method and I'm sticking with it. See? I AM taking your advice :p:p:p Your last point is exactly right, which is why, since I have had the list in this format for many weeks, after I requested feedback, as I always do, I do not feel like revamping it again. This is not a slam either. But you may have noticed all the whining and moaning that I have been doing about lack of feedback. And you have actually NAILED right on why I like feedback right away as opposed to later, when it is more of a pain to change things and have to try to get peoples' approval again. Does this make sense? Mr. K 10-22-2006, 03:58 AM If you have the ability to do MY SQL, John Neetz (Bigtime) wrote some code that would be perfect for the listings. You, too, now?! Getting feedback from you guys before was like getting crap out of an anorexic, and now you guys are rifling advice...just like that??!! Well???!!! It's about freaking time!!!! I was almost in tears because I had been thinking that nobody cared about the website!!!!! *sigh* :tongue3: Majority rules, as always, so, if I get a consensus (FInally--sheesh), then I shall implement something nicer. Travis B 10-22-2006, 04:05 AM BTW, those colors suck. could you elaborate on why the colors suck and which colors your refering to. If your refering to mine, I did it on the spur of the moment just to prove a point. You may need to take it into frontpage or dreamweaver and tweak it there, otherwise you can use it as a guide if you wish. jfactor1 10-22-2006, 06:31 AM I did it on the spur of the moment just to prove a point. My bad... DJ Dan 10-22-2006, 06:42 AM Just for the record: I have nothing to do with the design of adjrevolution.com, I just redirect it to ridiculouslylongurl.com. Johnny works his Frontpage magic. :p Mr. K 10-22-2006, 09:13 PM http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.adjrevolution.com If anybody understands how to fix anything, then please let me know. Thanks. This w3 validator is gobbledeegook to me. http://home.columbus.rr.com/mfreeman/web_validation.htm -- go here and SCROLL down to WedXACT, and enter your webpage if you want analyses that you are more likely to understand. Hey, I understand it. Its info is tied in with the W3 site, but WebXACT's analyses and clear explanations of them are what make a grande difference. Travis B 10-22-2006, 09:17 PM vinyl as the old sayings go, whatever floats your boat :) and... whatever tool gets the job done. Mr. K 10-22-2006, 11:46 PM OK...I finally understand what w3 is :) Now I need to know what DOCTYPE should I proclaim?! HELP! Thanks. Mr. K 10-22-2006, 11:57 PM I'm using this one: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> Mr. K 10-22-2006, 11:59 PM http://www.w3schools.com/ Travis B 10-23-2006, 12:03 AM seems correct to me vinyl. | |
