I showed up today in nice slacks, nice shirt, and a tie......

Then I come to work dressed this way, and my buddy wants to know why I am dressed up. I tell him. He is just back from his honeymoon. He tells me that when he was interviewing DJ's, one of them even showed up in a tank top..... and the guy wanted $1000 for his services!!!!!:sqerr:

Much the same here sans the tie. I hate ties. :D

It generally depends. If it is summer shorts and a polo shirt. Winter nice jeans and a colared shirt. I have a million things to do, I don't stop to change for a client meeting. My general dress I feel is acceptable for any meeting.

The question was how do I dress.... Business/Casual

Summer=Golf shirt and slacks
Winter=Button down dress shirt OR sweater and slacks

ALWAYS wear nice shoes!
If the bride likes you, the groom will. Woman ALWAYS look at shoes! (if you don't believe me, look in my wifes closet)

I just read a post someplace where some DJs wear gym/tennis shoes. If I am interviewing a professional, they will darn sure not make a professional first impression in GYM SHOES!

You never get a second chance to make a first impression!

Papa depends on the situation

I have arrived back after one job and still been in a tux, some days I can be in smart dress pants etc

one interview the couple were in summer clothes (shorts etc for the guy and mini dress for the ladies) - I was in shorts as it was an informal meeting to go over the music for the wedding

we dont have meetings to secure jobs, they either hire us to do the show or go elsewhere, its been like that in all the time I have Djed for

Usually a company shirt and some dress pants. I did do one last summer in a Tshirt and shorts but it was unexpected. They called and wanted to meet me as soon as possiable to sign the contract and it so happened I was less than 2 miniutes away ( I always keep blank contracts in the van but thats another thread) Fortunatly they were as well dressed as I was so it worked out good

I never did before yesterday, either. I actualy enjoyed it except for the actual time it took away from being with my family..... Saturday mornings are usually reserved for going to the YMCA.

Suit always, I look at it as an interview, only one chance to make a first impression.

Briar, you are on the money about the shoes. I always look at the shoes.

I'll pretty much agree what DJ Cam said in his post.

I for one, have never worn a tie to a client meeting!

I wasn't sure about the tie.... but it was my first face to face. I thought it better to be overdressed than underdressed.

Papa:

I would never fault anyone for wearing a tie to a meeting. I'm all for whatever works for each individual.

I guess Coreen and I are shall we say...a bit casual, when it comes to client meetings.

Heck, I've even done several meetings wearing my tacky Hawaiian print shirts, shorts....and gasp!!!! No shoes! (My feet were clean, though!) :D

I agree with Carolyn. I normally wear at least a shirt and tie when meeting with a prospect for a sales meeting. Sometimes, a logo'd polo shirt and slacks for a planning session.

Oh, and never eat Taco Bell before a client meeting (Note to self as I'm waiting for B2B to show up).
