Basically that's the change I did this week. Before all speakers in the room were a mix of vocals and background music, but this week I was sitting around thinking...

"Gee you know, studios mix vocals towards the center track"

"Gee, I got 4 speakers in the back of the room mixing music and vocals, and vocals always sound weak"

"Gee, I wonder if I dedicated my 2 center speakers towards vocals, if things would sound better?"

Using the pimp powers of my EMU1820m, I got the center speakers to output vocals only. Singers could hear themselves way better, and there was a lot more contrast between the music and the singer.

You may notice a huge differance in speakers if you were using live sound speakers instead of studio monitors.

That has nothing to do with how good a speaker will sound.... with the amount of speakers they have around the venue two "Live Sound" speakers would pale in comparison especially ones at the same price point of the Reference speakers currently in use.

Bose L1's are a prime example of why what you said doesn't hold much water.

Excellent! If I remember correctly, your speakers are 2-way. If that's the case, then this is certainly n optimum setup for them. Good thinking!

I use 3-ways, so I can just tweak the mid range for the same effect, but I never thought of your setup for 2-ways, and I've got some EVs that I'd like to try it with......hmmm, could be a load lightener....
