Check out this link, perfect for uplighting!

And the remote control!

Finally a great solution for uplighting without DMX, although that is also a feature of these units.

Interesting link. Thanks for posting it!
It appears the light is designed for outdoor use and has some additional clunkiness due to the required weatherproof design. It also appears that the remote is IR. You would have to program/change them one at a time or use DMX cables.

Good post, but at that price there are 100+ more affordable options.
The wireless option will come down in price as soon as more manufactures begin producing product.

He told me that he is importing some units that are not only wireless, but battery operated (he says they are amazing). He is shooting a video for his site as we speak.
He also has a unit that will run off of DMX that will do the Christmas light shows you see all over the Net, for $299 for a 12 fixture power pack (on/off and dim... DMX controlled).

Can you imagine what's going to be on the market by the summer? It seems there are new and exciting LED options coming out every week. Eventually the prices will get lower, and the brightness higher!

Burn retinas, burn!
IMHO, all the more powerful LED fixtures should come with removable wash / diffusion filters, like my trusty-old Omega 250C's. Yeah, I know the filters would be bigger but they are needed. I know there is that American DJ Par 64 LED can that retained the gel brackets which was very smart of them. At first, everyone was like, "Ahhh, why the heck do these things have gel brackets when they can already produce any color?" A few burned retinas later, I think those same people figured out the answer... lol

I have a small version of the IR remote control/led unit combo and unless you're standing in direct line of the receiver and a just a yard or so away, the IR remote is useless and you're going to be quite miffed like I was.
The units I bought do make a nice free running color changing wheel for a small Christmas tree.
IR is not the answer.

How about wifi based. Each one gets an IP address and can be controlled via the web.

Great idea.... can ya imagine what would happen if they got hacked into durring a show? :spcool:
There are already DMX wireless solutions available why not connect them to that and assign them all to the same dmx channel so that they could be controled in mass by one scanner button on your controller?

Cap: Thanks you know I just got into using DMX and I gotta say it's far easier than I imagined it would be.
