We use to have a website up and running. It never got us any jobs. My sisters boyfriend made up the site. My partner says he can make up the new site. I wanted to know how much should be spent to get the new site up? How much should it cost each month to keep it up and anybody have some ideals as to what the site should contain to get us jobs? What are things you do to have a successful website?

I write websites. Let me say this. Websites are for people to look at and make inquiries. Its a great way to learn about your services and what you offer.

Honestly, there are many hosting services out there from yahoo to re-invent. Prices ranging from 6.99 a month to 100.00 a month depending on what you are looking for. You can pay per click you can pay a set fee, its up to you. Your website can be all flash, it can be static.

The biggest thing you need to realize, sites don't book jobs, your talent books jobs! Websites are only tools to get you there!

I think that is the biggest misconception about websites. when you speak to any web developer they will say anything to sell you their services. They will even promise you a rose garden.. thats how law suits start. The truth is what I said above. They shouldn't claim that this is the cure all.. its not. It's a tool that helps, but dont depend on it as your sole way of making money, it wonthappen.

You may want to consider putting out things in value packs, and other forms of media to help with this also. See caterers, talk and get your name out there. Do bridal shows..whatever it takes, because if you put a site and up there and sit back and think hey, this is gonna do it for me, you are sadly mistaken...because the truth of the matter is. When this site is finally up there. It takes 90 days for the "spiders" to read your site and find its way into the google/yahoo/all the other services.

If you have any further questions let me know

Our company specializes in web design, we do the small jobs and then the really monstrous jobs including flash, FLV & WMV video streaming services, PHP/Databasing applications, AJAX and live interaction.

We started with our design business even before the DJ stuff took off, yet we have been sensitive enough to understand what DJ's needs are. My phone number is on my website, so feel free to call my office and speak with me if your interested.
