djMarco 03-20-2008, 12:33 PM Just got it today:
New Laptop German Brand-Gericom
-2.2 Core duo
-2Gb Ramm
-120Gb hard drive
-ATI graphics...
Windows Vista Ultimate
VDJ 5.0
I was a little sceptic about Vista Ultimate(i buy it extra) because I heart it is Ramm hungry.Yes it is but not so much as I was thinking. After all I was also not shure that Vdj will work with Vista without some Vista upgrade or driver...
So I turn on the lapy and put the VDJ(my new one-5.0)DVD in and install the program without problems.I was werry happy that things go on without problems.:sqlaugh:
DJ Koz 03-20-2008, 07:53 PM Good for you Marco. Good luck with it.
Bill Kexel 03-21-2008, 01:52 AM I too have Vista. I would've preferred XP, but Vista is working fine.
Sooner or later, Microsoft will be phasing out XP, so I figured might as well get used to it.
So Cal Hugh 03-21-2008, 02:39 AM I had XP on my new laptop (new as of about 5 months ago). It ran so poorly, and wouldn't reformat wavs or whatever into mp3s as XP does.
After fighting with it, I had an IT friend reformat it to XP. VERY glad I did. No problems since then.
djMarco 03-21-2008, 08:57 AM First harder test will be tonight on a Bar gig i have.Im curios whats happend.I think everithing will be ok-but you never now for shure with new system.
DJ Dan 03-21-2008, 04:04 PM Good luck with your new laptop, Marco. Just curious what did that run you? I'm not being nosy just interested to see how much this stuff costs overseas. :)

You mean Vista?
DJ Dan 03-21-2008, 04:29 PM I really don't get people's beef with Vista. *gulp* I like it. It just works for me.
So Cal Hugh 03-21-2008, 10:14 PM You mean Vista?
My bad. You're right.

Dan!
I payd for everything together about 1250Euros(1500-1600$).I know its a bit more expensive as in US or Canada but thats how it is.The price includes VDJ and Windows Vista Ultimate.
djMarco 03-22-2008, 10:32 AM Last night Bar gig from 21.00-03.00 hours.
Everything was fine.Computer,VDJ and Vista(can you think that) worked perfect.
Tonight the same Bar and the same gig and will see whats happend. In the start i was not shure about Vista but for now its Ok.If something will happend i let you know for shure.
So tomorow one more report!
thatmusicguy 03-22-2008, 11:20 AM Marco - one thing I would suggest is disabling UAC (User Authorization Control)....If you're playing from an external drive.....you might have issues.....
How you liking VDJ 5...I know you had been using 4.3.....
What sound card are you using?
djMarco 03-22-2008, 12:30 PM I load my music on internall hard drive.I take with me externall drive for back up and iPod if comes to some horror scenario.
I was usin VDJ 3.4. I like 5.0 werry much but i miss some things from older versions.
I use two sound cards. In my new laptop the card is not shared on MB, its own unit like my ATI grphic card.Laptop loocks because of that a bit bigger or older if you wish(for my taste loocks like its at least 5-7 years old, like its fat)but cooling is werry good.
My externall USB sound card is M-Audio Fast track(if needed.I use it only for Bar gigs).
I have a little problem with VDJ.I have a few WMA files(when my Audiograbber was dead) and vdj dont show me the name of song but the track number from Cd.
Like this:(example)
track artist
Rock this party Bob Sinclair
In my case
Track1 --------
Anybody a clue why?

I used to have it, but couldn't figure it out. Any tips?

I wonder what he means by "It ran so poorly"?
I have Vista on my laptop & have run it for almost 1 yr with no problems.
I wonder if he just didn't understand how to use it? Or his problem is with something else & not with Vista.
Bill

All I know is that it didn't run my kj softward, and it was very slow. I took it to my friend who is an IT guru and he replaced it with XP. He didn't have any personal pcs with vista, so it was somewhat new to him. He was frustrated in his attempts to get the necessary stuff off of the disk, or something like that. He replaced it with XP and it has been running great ever since!
djMarco 03-24-2008, 08:47 AM So as i sayd-Last night one more gig with the new Lapy and once again no problems.
I dont know if Im just lucky or maybe the reason for not having problems is that I have instaled on Laptop only VDJ,Mp3 Gain and nothing else.
So if someone ask me about this configuration Vista-VDJ 5.0, i can only recomend.
