I’m searching for some tips, or HELP. We have a new site up, just launched a week ago. I know it will take some time for Google to go through our site, however over the past months I have noticed that we are no where on Google. Someone mentioned to me that I may have been black listed from Google... I can't imagine why... but its true... even if I post my web address, our site does not come up. Other sites that mention us, or link to us do... but as for our site... NADA!

www.grmusic.com

SOOOO this posting is two fold... we have a new site, and any comments.. good or bad.. please let me know. I have spent a lot of time into this site, and its not completely finisher, however it is up and live.

AND, if anyone knows how I can make my site more Google friendly... please let me know. I know that I should send Google a site map, but I have no idea how to make one.. Any help there would be great too!! Thanks!

Joomla1.5 very cool! Being a Joomla user (1.0 version) I don't see any problem myself that jumps out at me. You don't have anything in the root directory of your website that may keep your site from being spidered???? You might want to check the .access file to be sure nothing in there is set to keep the spiders out.

My site shows up quite well usually top 10 to top 20 for Google and Yahoo searches.

Thanks Doug for the input. Once I got used to working in Joomla it wasn’t all that hard to get this site up.. but there was a bit of a learning curve. I hired a website design guy to build the site... He actually spent the time with me and showed me how to build it myself, with his support. I’m the end I did almost of the work, but then Its my words, my ideas.. his support. Still Cost me a small fortune! could have bought a new system!

Anyways, I guess I just have to let time do its thing... how long does it take to start getting ranked again?

.......... OH, and its hard for me to see my site and be objective... DOES this site feel like a DJ site??? I didn’t include pictures of our gear, or DJs... mostly because I have not had the time to go out into the field and get them.. Should I??? what’s your input!

Thanks!

I think it looks great! I wouldn't worry about the equipment pics, but I would think about maybe some pics of you and or your DJs to put a face on things.... but thats just my opinion and we just did an exhaustive thread recently here on this very topic.

I like the color, navigation is straight forward. It didn't check for sure, but I wouldn't let just anyone have access to planning tools until they show me the money. Why potentially give away something of value.

what words are you using in your meta search?

Scott your site is indexed by Google as evidenced by this search: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.grmusic.com%2F&btnG=Google+Search

Are you just not ranking for specific keywords?

Hey Dan, I guess it will just take time, those index sits are from my Old site. I guess it just will take some time.

Joisey Girl - Ive got a load of meta tags in there... just about anything I could come up with

Em - here we go but just a snippet as I'm tired of snipers taking a pop at me.

The site is cool - Joomla is way cool but a lot of your site is using dynamic urls ie: it has & ? = and stuff like that in. Whilst google can crawl

Joomla is more of a CMS than a website design program that's why I only work on HTML websites - except for "deep pocket" clients that go the PPC route.

Don't forget there is the fairy store about the Google sandbox which is utter bollocks - I put up a new website, new dom name last week and am #9 on Google already ;)

Davey... http://thelogocompany.net/ did my logo. Very good experience with these people. Considering the whole thing was done online over the course of a month, it was well worth it!

Can't help with Google. They are not really for businesses. I'll bet your site show up on Yahoo. Give it a try...

Google doesn't show a fifth of the stuff on me that Yahoo does..

Scottie - there were some pro SEO guys of note saying Google kicked new sites around in a "sandbox" before ranking them - I have proved that a fallacy time and time again.

I really wasn't knocking Google. They can be just fine. The thing is, different search engines have different priorities. Google is really best for general info searches, Yahoo is best for business ( by "best" I mean more comprehensive in certain areas), Ask is good for detail and obscure searches, and MSN is worthless ( sorry, my own opinion). No knock meant. Each does what they do well...

True - :)

We're about to lose Ask which IMO is pretty cool these days. It's going to a portal for Women so I'll be hanging out there a lot checking out the talent ;) oh! and hotties too
