I had a very interesting ceremony and reception Saturday...went like this:

I booked this bride off of craigs list - my first time doing so. She wanted a bargain, I gave her a discount. She was VERY nice as was her hubby and WE had a great time. The reason I say WE, is everyone she invited bailed right after dinner! No joke, by 9:30 there were 4 people left!!!! It was the bride and groom and her best friend and her husband - and me :) I played for 2 more hours just for those 4 and they had a blast! They brought me a bowl full of ice and 4 beers in it and we just hung out. I told them I was there until midnight and felt bad her friends and family bailed so I stayed for the duration.

Anyway, they had 4 kids between them (second marriage) and wanted to incorporate them into their first dance so check out what we came up with. We started with unchained melody under the spotlights and transitioned into shake your tailfeather - the family took a couple video's, low quality but you get the idea.

Very interesting night, spent most of the night talking to an annoying drunk relative and two kids that would not leave my side behind the booth. The upside is the check didn't bounce - yet :)

I liked the second video seeing and hearing more crowd reaction. Good Job Kris. Also got to hear the voice and give thumbs up on the Mic.

Kris, what brand of "moving yoke lights" are you using? I'm thinking of buying a pair to put more action on my "wedding stage". Do you think they give you the effect you're after? Are they worth the money? Are they DMX controlled or sound activated?

The song "Shake Your Tailfeather" who is it by?

I've never heard the song or seen the dance before. Do you know where I can get a copy of the dance steps or video?

I think Ray Charles may have done a version of it but the most popular is by
The Blues Brothers (circa 1980) We used to play it in the oldies club that I worked at for one of our "showtime" dances. Featured in the blues brothers movie, I think.

The moving heads are actually no name lilghts bought direct out of China at a very discounted price. Bought through a local dealer in KC...I think $800 a pop. In my opinion if you had to bring only two lights to a show it would be these...16 channel DMX, set spotlight scenes on grand enterence, first dance, toasts, cake cutting, run them around during dance, even strobe with them.

I think the version I uses was by the blues brothers, but the dance was put together by the bride and groom.

The set up I used (8 LED pars and two moving heads) is my bare bones package but does the trick for sure.

None yet of my basic or wedding stuff, just some video of my bigger set ups on my site (www.platinumsound.biz)

I'll be adding video of my wedding and basic package set ups in the month or two to come.

You can see the the dance to the song in The Blues Brothers, in the movie and soundtrack, it is performed by Ray Charles.
