INTERESTING new method to DMX programming!

Has anyone ever programmed their fixtures in this fashion.

Make an 8 step sequence of the fixtures in different pan and tilt directions (no light bulbs on). Just 8 different directions and save this.

Next... Create an 8 step sequence of the fixtures (with the light bulbs on) with different colors and gobos (no movement) and save this.

Now... Just run both sequences as the same time.

Supposedly this offers more versitile shows and options.

I learned this over at the freestyler board and was wondering if anyone programmed this way? Sounds interesting.

Yes, this is a very good way to program
It would be worth your while to make it habitual.

You can then reuse each movement pattern, and color sequence.
This will not only cut down on your clutter, but it will also save you programming time.

Much as how you pick out your shirt, pants, and perhaps shoes for the day, mixing and matching programming sequences can give you a new "look" each day :D

I never heard of this until today. So... I'd create a cue and just call it RED?

And then run that will a cue of 8 steps that are movements? I'm so lost.

It is a little complicated to explain, as it is a new way of thinking
If you'd like a little further explanation, just Live chat with me on...

This sound pretty much the way I've been going about things

I have programed 8 different color patterns on my two color palettes to bank 1 then did 8 more for bank 2 and now I will be programing the auto modes to banks 3 and 4...

Later I will add my Vue to these scenes as I see fit...

Is that basically it in a nutshell?

Don't supposed you bookmarked the thread did you? I haven't been able to find any threads describing this. Thanks!

I actually did this programming and used it at a party. It worked pretty well. (except for the fact that the fixtures would stop responding to Freestyler for no reason). Perhaps I should have terminated the DMX signal. Or, actually used dmx cables. I was being cheap I guess.

I created two sequence of JUST MOVEMENTS.

I created two sequences of JUST LIGHT AND GOBO changes.

I mixed and matched the movement and light sequences for a nice changing show.
