Hello, I am about to enter unfamiliar territory. I have a 10 year old copy of the DK Millenium pack. Most play fine in CDG player but what can I expect when I try to convert them to MP3's? Most are pretty scratched up. Any advice would be helpful.

If they play fine they will generally will rip ok.
Download a copy of audiograbber and see what happens. Hope for the best!

Since its the last time you'll touch them, you can get one of those disc doctor things (with the 1000 grint sand paper) to take out most of the scratches. It improved a couple of my wife's discs when I ripped them. Also, if you REALLY want to fix the graphics, you can look for an old open source program called cdgedit (or is it editcdg?). It is EXTREMELY time consuming, but you can completely correct all the defects in a cdg file.

If scratched up, Remember........Rip SLOW
It may take awhile, but the results may be much better...

I would burn copies of the originals, just in case. Then I would run them through a disc Dr. or similar resurfacing device. Then rip.
Tim: Do you know where the CDG editing program you mentioned might be found? I have it as firmware in my standalone burner, but would like it in software form as well..

I would agree with Joe, not only would I rip them to mp3+g but I would also copy them to CD-R as a backup copy...
Audiograbber is ok but doesn't offer anyway of burning back to CD-R... also it is very glitch in regards to the output graphic file...
I would strongly recomend use of Power CDG Burner from www.karaokeplayground.com
This program while it costs $39.00 is well worth the two twenties it costs to purchase...
I have found that it makes the best possible rips and so far I have not noted any files that I've created with it that have glitches in the graphic files...
If your going to do this do it right the first time...
By that I mean you will need to decide what program you want to use to play back on.... I would recomend AutOKdj if you do a lot of regular bar gigs... as this program which is a plug-in for winamp will handle everything for you including rotations... all you have to do is monitor levels, and keep things fair. Check out www.autokdj.com
On this forum you'll find I have placed a step-by-step for use of Power CDG Burner
Hope this helps...

Might i add that Rob's (Jokerswild) tutorial for the power cdg burner is spot on!
It works very well, as i'm just about done with ripping my CDG library.
