Something very strange happened to me last weekend. I have my music library on an external hard drive. I was using it with my DJ program (Traktor) during the day with no problem with my laptop.
Then I took it to my club which I usually do and hooked it up to the desktop there which also has Traktor. One of the folders/categories with 428 songs completely disappeared. instead of the list of songs there were only two lines with a strange file name and file extension. Seemed like the file name consisted of about six numbers with a .0 as the extension. Is this a registry error. I did not know what to do so i went and did a restore, the whole folder just disappeared/got deleted. I wish i had written down the file name that appeared.

Did u connect ur hard drive to any other system and download any file? Looks to me like a virus issue. Dont worry , take ur hd to a data recovery expert and i strongly feel u can recover all your lost files.

Well! First I want to add. I am using Windows XP. Fortunately I have a back up Hard Drive with all the songs less 44 (The new ones). Traktor shows the missing files, so I can easily replace them. Hopefully it is not really a virus because I did not run a virus scan before hooking up my back up drive to copy over the lost files!
