Im thinking about doing a cross-promotion with a local jeweler called "HAYES" jewelers. I would purchase a pair of wedding rings (nice ones) that can be sized in any size and do a book with us and get a chance to win thing.
your thoughts?
Jon Tuck 04-08-2008, 10:38 PM its an innovative idea but how many gigs will it take to break even? I have offered discounts and prizes over the yrs and most often the brides I have dealt with werent interested in the fluff. In many cases much like upsells or add ons or even gold , silver and bronze packaging. Likely those things didnt work with a great reward cause Im at my regions upper level for pricing.Or perhaps I wasnt the super salesman offering such upgrades etc.

I am a bride, or a groom, or some hybrid. I am thinking, "OK, do I want to hire a DJ that I was not considering in the first place, just so I can get a ring that I did not really want in the first place?"
Now, synthesising both posts, I, as somebody pretending to be Mr. K., am thinking that you should try to network with Hayes, or maybe some other business with maybe even some other kind of product, and see if you can work out a deal where there is a "give and take" involved, that would cost you little or nothing. As far as the rings, specifically, perhaps a gift certificate is more appropriate (?).
good points. I gotta run the numbers on it
GC would probably be real nice
id probably run it as a tag the next time i do radio spots
Mr. K 04-08-2008, 10:55 PM Afterthought: I am now wondering how many brides and grooms are going to wait until they find out whether or not they have won a pair of wedding rings before they decide to buy their own, especially since the DJ is often one of the very last things that they consider.
Eh?
i was just thinking i would shorten it up, run it maybe the last week of april til june so to qualify you'd have to have your wedding in November? maybe the gift certificate is better they can do something down the line.
I was thinking of maybe doing 3 "if we pick your numbers the deposits all you pay"
im just toying with some different ideas right now.

I am a bride: "Oh, that sounds very nice!"
I am a groom: "Ya. Looks good."
mr. k? does that mean you like the lucky winner only pays their deposit?

No. It means that I am role playing as a bride and as a groom who like the idea, because it sounds like a good idea.
Personally, I am undecided. :sqerr:
I think, however, that it is worth trying. Oh! I guess that means that I think that it is a good idea. :sqlaugh:

I think that the above is good thinking, as well. But, please note that this is just a fuzzy guy's honest opinion, and it is to be absolutely not taken as any sort of expertise in the field.
DJ Cam 04-09-2008, 03:14 AM While I will admit you are thinking out of the box.
The box you are looking in is the cat's and is full of turds.
This isn't bad. I suggest you keep brain storming as your are on the right track.
There is a jeweler here in the Pittsburgh area that if it rains on your wedding day your rings are free.
I thought about doing this as a promotion but looking at weather patterns Pittsburgh has more rainy days than Seattle. Now if I lived in Vegas this would be my promo.
I'm thinking too. If I come up with the answer I will share.
My other idea would be if the groom can beat me at golf your wedding is free.... then I realized I'm not a very good golfer.
Still brainstorming.
Cam- look up americanholeinone.com i think or "American Hole In One" they insure this promotion...

Cam
I mean they insure that promotion, the weather/rain thing. When you find the site they have a ton of other great promos too that you can do as tie ins

GoodKnightDJ 04-09-2008, 09:31 AM We are low on the totem pole in regard to vendors. They usually have their rings before their DJ.
Maybe a $500 gift card to target or something more new homely...
