Alright so heres the deal, A very prominent party planner in my area has seen potential in me and "taken me under her wing" so to speak. Shes the kind of party planner that does events up into the 5 digits, and has a complete staff including security and dancers she has offered my use of. Shes already started booking me gigs out into 2010, so basically shes been a huge help in my business. She called me yesterday inquiring as to a date, and after that she started asking me about websites. It seems her laugher was running hers, but got caught up in a photography business and stopped working on it. She wants me to work with her to get a good site up. We both agreed that because of the time it takes to put together a great site, neither of us had the time to do it, so she tasked me with finding a good design company. I'm at a complete loss as to how to approach this, there are hundreds of companys to do this...I don't wanna get scammed either. I'm thinking a very nice event planner's site, but no flash as it needs to be easily update able. Any suggestions on this one?

Heres the current site, www.creativeeventscharlotte.com

As you can see, it was never completely finished, and is very out of date.

Keep local, talk to friends... I do quite a bit of web work myself, its not necessarily hard, but try to find someone near by...

Definetly don't go with the cheapest option you'll end up with the cheapest look. ;)

I'd talk to Travis B, he does websites and is pretty darn good at it. :)

Brian, we understand the DJ industry, and we are more fair to the DJ's than our other target audiences. if you use another company, look closely at their work, see if it is "cookie cutter" and same throughout, this may not be good for a company wanting to sell a unique vision. Look at readability, and what generally looks nice. References is a plus! See how well they handle the big clients vs. the small clients. This will give you a good judge of hard they will work for your project. Small businesses are EAGER to do business with you, and there is (like Starbucks) a web designer on every corner. The key is to find one that fits your specs, not his! I've been doing the web stuff longer than the DJ'ing, and still my work is being used after I have left those companies, and even still after doing work on my own. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to come off as a "pick me" type of person, even here on the boards there are various members at different price points who do web design here. I personally want to do (as with my other clients) what is in the best interest of them!

Although, if you think I might be a right fit for you.... Contact me privately and we can talk about this in greater detail. ;)
