New Look and New Leaf

Hi Folks,

This morning, I installed the new template it looks great in my biased opinion. I did some tweaking everything should be running great.

We have also installed a new portal system for the front page. Right now there is basic information there over time we will add some great content such as member videos and DJ news feeds.

With this change, I'd like to get back to the old ODJT that was just a fun place to learn and hang out. For that reason both the man and ladies forum have been dropped. I'm confident that we can all be respectful and courteous with each other as we once were, I hope that spirit comes back to ODJT. I miss it so do many of our members.

With that said, I'd like to send out a big thank to you Colleen of Kalina Web Designs (http://www.kalinawebdesigns.com) who was a breeze to work with, I high recommend Colleen for site design. Another big thank you goes out to our very own Hank aka Request Line Productions (http://www.ourdjtalk.com/member.php?u=144) for designing our new awesome logo. I'm not the only one who here who recommends Hank for logo design, he's the man.

I notice there is a little red dot on the portal page at the top under the wide menu. I assume that is a placeholder...?

Yea Dan I must say it looks awesome and yep Hank is the man when it comes to logo's.

Thanks. It's supposed to be the banners. I'm off to play in the templates..If I'm not back in an hour send out a search team. :sqwink:

You might be able to fit the banners in the white space between the "Our DJ Talk - DJ Help and Resources Chat!", and the Welcome xxxxx part. That might look cooler if doable, and take less vertical space...

That would probably only work on the portal page though.

It's fixed, I had to call in an expert, Colleen. She wound up writing a plug in for it. Saved me lots of hair pulling out! :sqerr: :sqlaugh:

Dan I had a really long conversation on the phone this morning with Sparkie about ODJT and im glad you made ALL the changes that you did. When i started over here i thought it would be very similar to other dj boards a bunch of flaming, hating, dj egomaniacs, but so far it hasn't been that way. I think you guys did a really good job of handling all this moderator turnover behind the scenes without a blood and guts fight in front of everyone.
This is a really great place and now it looks nicer too.

One thing I noticed, is that on my handheld (Motorola Q) the posts are compressed to only maybe 10 or so words wide. It used to be maybe 3 or 4 times as wide. It's much more annoying to read that way, especially a long post. I get the same effect on ProDJ.com when viewed on my handheld.

It looks great Dan! My only complaint would be that apart from the red color, the front page looks like a certain other forum..

can you use "opera mini browser" on a moto q? I use it on my blackberry and although its small ODJT looks fine on it this morning.

If you dont use it, it is free!

Strange. I didn't even consider handhelds when specing out the template. You might want to try viewing on your handheld via the Archive http://www.ourdjtalk.com/archive/index.php it's basically a stripped down version for spiders but all the info is still there sans the graphics and stuff.

Red wasn't my favorite color until I started ODJT, I wanted to keep the red that we started with, this once in a bit brighter and deeper at the same time.. Blue was out for the remodel as we'd look like another DJ forum. Decisions Decisions.

Probably, I know she works with just about every forum/CMS/Shopping Cart system out there. If it's CSS based, which Joomla is, she can do it. She's like the swiss army knife of designers. :D
