I have a school requesting a "Black Light dance" . . .

What is it?

How does it work?

What do I need?

What do you charge; more?

Black light is also called UV light, it makes white clothes really light up, also special paints really glow. Search google for black light you will see tons of info.

The overall best light for themoney is the Elation UV Wash

How many you need depends on the area you want to cover.

How much to charge depends on hany many lights you need.

In my area, we specialize in blacklight dances for our schools. I've created an entire program to really create a special atmosphere for these dances. Obviously some people might go the easier route, but I prefer to go all out.

Our blacklight dance concept is called "DUSK". We bring in UV Washes (The elation ones) 2 does it for most schools. I also bring in glow necklaces and sell them to the sponsors who in turn sell them to the students. I sell them for $20 a tube, they sell for $2-3 a stick. We also do confetti shoots at these gigs. We shoot white streamer confetti that glows in the UV light and is so easy to clean up cuz most kids wear the streamers. We can also provide little LED candles to sit on the tables which adds to the atmosphere. And occasionally i'll even dye my hair neon colored to match the effect. Neon colored hair on all black looks really good and people understand its part of the theme night, not me being unprofessional.

We have 2 packages:

$400

and

$600

the primary difference is the amount of sound and lighting we take to them. The $400 one is for 200-300 ppl where the $600 is for 300-500 ppl.

So Carolina, I have one of these coming up in a couple weeks. Do you think 3 UV washes will cover a large dancefloor (halfcourt).

Yes, I'm planning on using 2 for a fairly large prom I have coming up in May and as long as u eliminate all non-essential light, the effect is bright from these small fixtures. If your running scanners, vues, pars, strobes and all kinds of stuff though, the effect will not be as bright. If you really wanna wow the kids and sponsors, go to www.flutterfetti.com and order 1 18" Airless Launcher with White Streamers and fire it with just the blacklights on during soulja boy. Costs $6, no co2 or anything and it'll be a HUGE hit. Each tube gets 2 shots. I use a Co2 Launcher but these work just as well. Questions, hit me up.

Do these airless launchers throw a single streamer or how does that work?

Would two of these Chauvet LED Shadow (TFX-UVLED) do the average school dance?

I really can't say on my own, but Ben recommends the Elation, and so do most folks... so when I buy, I'm getting the Elation. ( Ben sells both Chauvet and Elation ).

I think based on the quality of most LED products out there these days, and how new the LED concept is, that you'll be more satisfied with the Elation UV Washes. Theyre about $125 from the right dealer on here and will IMO give you better coverage than a LED based fixture.

The airless launchers unfortunately didn't come in Tissue like i thought but you can get a basic CO2 unit for under $100 and the investment will pay for itsself. The quarter-turn launchers like i have (3 of em) will shoot about 30 streamers. Indoors i shoot them slightly up and horizontally so they cascade down on the kids. The streamers act like a tent over the kids and create an insanely awesome effect in the black light. Even getting the flick sticks with reg. metallic streamers is a cool effect if ur not running UV.

I just ordered 2 Elation UV washes myself. After doing a bunch of research on line and asking some vendors...it's basically a hands down win for the UV wash.

I do this in bars everyone wears a white shirt and writes on one another with neon markers.
