Sprucing Up A Few Things...

We've been trying to think of ways to clean up our site and make it a bit more professional looking (we're using a template) in particular our photo pages.

The first example is the old style, and as you can see the photos are all over the place and are very messy. :sqmad:

Now we come to our solution for this mess. We have begun a mass resizing project to place our photo galleries on our Humzoo (http://www.humzoo.com/ballphoto_dj) acount. So what we have done is placed one representative photo from various weddings and then use a direct link to the corresponding photo gallery. The result is the web page looks a lot more uniform and when they link to the gallery it opens up into a new window and they can explore from there and not leave our site completely.

See example:

So hopefully we'll have this all taken care of very soon.

Then we'll start working on the other pages that need attention also!

Thought? Feedback? Please be gentle, we're not "webmasters"...:sqwink:

Kirby - The photos to me are way to big as is the font (on both the photos and links at the bottom).....It looks way out of proportion as compared to your navigation bar...These could almost be like thumbnails, linking to the gallery

Thanks, Steve.

We've tried to use thumbnail size photos, but they just wouldn't work proportionately (sp?) and balance wise with the template. In fact our original wish was to have a thumbnail photo gallery right on the website. Right now this is a temporary fix, until we can afford or learn to do this on our own.

Maybe we'll try an experiment and reduce the size of the photos a bit on the site and see if that might make a difference?

I agree that the font style and size is not the optimal, but it's an improvement over the haphazard jumble of the original look. :)

We're just trying to do the best with what we have to work with and I do appreciate the feedback...

Thanks!

Kirby

Kirby,

Side scrolling is a drag (pun intended). Your page should look good in all resolutions.
You may want to organize you photos into flash galleries. There are many free widgets available like www.slide.com (http://www.slide.com).

Also, www.coffeecup.com (http://www.coffeecup.com) has a very affordable photo organizer. I use it here (http://home.comcast.net/~djboston/gallery/portfolio.html) and here (http://dmsign.net/vehicles.html).
