jokerswild 04-24-2008, 10:52 AM Sorry I just like that term I don't know why... so who ever coined Bose-O thanks a lot.... lol
Anyway.... I have a Vue III and I'm debating do I place it on top of my Bass Bins or set it away from the speakers.... I will be running it off of a DMX controler but the settings are set for Auto/Sound Active...
I'm thinking on top of the bass bins would make it go crazy and instead of following the beat it may just flash all the time....
Thoughts?
DJ Zac 04-24-2008, 10:53 AM I'm curious about the same thing. I just got a Vue III myself. I'm thinking that if I adjust the sensitivity to its lowest setting, I should be OK. I guess I'll find out in the next month or so...
Anyone else???
jokerswild 04-24-2008, 10:57 AM The reason I want to know is I intend to stand my light tree right behind the L1 and it would be convienent and also would make my setup very compact if I could sit the Vue on top of the Bass Bins...
I have seen setup's with standard Subs where they have sat the Vue on the floor next to the subs... and was thinking why not on top of the Bass Bins then.
With most of my recent setups using my Mackie gear and by Mackie SRS-1500 subs I put my VUE III on top of my subs. I usually adjusted the stand to point the light at the ceiling and then put a couple of strips of black gaffers tape to secure it some. It has always worked great, but I have had a few screws get loose, maybe from the vibrations.
So Cal Hugh 04-24-2008, 01:04 PM I am thinking about a switch like this, too. Thanks for the topic. My concern was that the crowd in some venues will block the lights when the floor fills up. I was playing with the idea of putting them about three feet off the ground on a tree behing the L1s. Maybe just a stick and not a cross bar, so it looks like the L1.
Cap Capello 04-24-2008, 01:34 PM Both ways
VUE-111s:
First, on the B1s (and used gaffer's tape to secure them to the top side of the stacked B1s, using both DMX and auto modes

then on the 3' Ultimate Supports:

Add a couple of ProPar64 l.e.d. lights:

Hugh,
Yeah the crowd will block the light when they get close, and it is not like when old lights were being used, there is no heat so they don't even know it.
Nice Cap
8 B1's someone has a couple of extended bass amps -)
Cap Capello 04-24-2008, 02:12 PM MBM : Yes, I have two PackLites, and in this venue (about 20,000 sq ft in this late 1800's train station like facility) doing a Sr Prom for about 450 total, I thought I'd need more bass. Not.
About an hour into it, I unplugged one, then eventually the other. That was May 2007, the last time I've used the A1's (A1s is the code for the PackLite amps) needed for anything extra bass-wise that I ended up not needing anyway.
So Cal Hugh 04-24-2008, 03:30 PM Cap,
Those lights are exactly what I was envisioning! Very cool! Is the flat panel for VJ stuff? Also, can you post a photo from the back? I want to see how the lights up top are set up.
Thanks!
Cap Capello 04-24-2008, 04:01 PM Hugh : The ProPar64 set got me in some hot water with the Mountain as the speakers were not designed to handle lights in that manner and thus voids the warranty.
Sorry. What you see is all I dare show without going out on that same limb again.

:sqconfused:Was wondering about that too, not that I would do anything to void the warranty. :sqeek:
WaydeWest 04-24-2008, 05:52 PM Damn...and here I was wondeing if I could somehow put a MinSpot on top of an L1.
Oh well...
Ron Auger 04-24-2008, 06:39 PM I knew Cap would jump in and show us how to go Both Ways.:sqwink:
I just purchased two Revo III's as well. I place one, half way up the tripod facing the ceiling and the other at the top facing down into the crowd. I'm still experimenting with placement but what nice lights.
By the bi I think the term Bose-O was created by that little polish dude Alphabet (Joe). I think the origin of the word Bozo ( a clown; who's originated from Boston MA) comes from his wife Heather calling him one night in frustration. He then coined the term as Bose for the unit and O as in owner hence Bose Owner or Bose-O. Or I could just be making the whole thing up.:sqlaugh:
Cap, awesome and impressive setup as usual.
flipper06 04-24-2008, 06:56 PM Cap,
That is one of the cleanest setups i have seen. I love it! BTW hopefully soon ,when i get some financial stuff straightened out we will be buying those L1's you and i spoke about (I haven't forgot ya Cap..lol)
thatmusicguy 04-24-2008, 08:26 PM Get a circular baseplate made...same size as the Bose to the back of it fabricate a mount that will accept a post...mount said post upon which you can mount a "T" to hold 3 light fixtures...a color strip is very light as are LED pars....The Bose sits on said base blocking most of the posts...The weight of the Bose will stabilize the post and lights...

I was thinking something like that too.
Alphabet 04-25-2008, 06:42 AM I just purchased two Revo III's as well.
Hey Ronnie,
You SURE they're not VUE IIIs????? :sqlaugh: (Joke from another forum).
As for the Bose-O term:
Thanks for the credit....
I think :sqerr:
I can only thank Heather for the inspiration. :) She looked at me & said "You're a Bozo" & I said "Yeah I guess I am"....A "Bose O"wner....;)

I have a metal fabricator who is trying to make a slip OVER the top light holder for smaller ( lighter ) lights. Kind of like an upside down basket to slip over the top with a way to connect a light.
Ron Auger 04-25-2008, 09:44 AM Hey Joseph,
Who you calling Ronnie? Oh wait, that's my name.
I guess I wasn't making that up.

Hmmm...that sounds interesting, you're not modifying or attaching anything to the L1, just laying something on it.
Cap's lighting mount was brilliant, too bad Bose had an issue with it.
And I was serious, it looks like you could just velcro a MinSpot to the top of an L1. Considering the dollar investment, I'm not so sure I will try it though.
Kirby Ball 04-25-2008, 11:54 PM Cap:
Do you have a picture from the other side or explain how you attached this to the stand?
Use small words, because I went to a public school.:sqwink:
Thanks,
Kirby
Cap Capello 04-26-2008, 12:06 AM Kirby: I have two sets of supports rigged; the 3' and the 6'. The attachment process is the same for either:
Run the ac power cord, the DMX send and return cable up the center pole to hide them:
http://www.capcapello.com/lights/10-vue.jpg
Connect an "O" clamp to the VUE-111 mounting bracket then attach the "O" clamp to the center pole of the support:
http://www.capcapello.com/lights/11-vue.jpg
Nice and neat. No exposed wires:

One of these would do the trick... http://www.northernlightfx.com/cart/product.php?productid=724&cat=1055&page=1
Kirby Ball 04-26-2008, 01:07 AM Awesome idea Cap, you are a true genius! Thanks for sharing that info!
Joker: Thanks, I've got "O" clamps out the Wazoo....:sqeek::sqbiggrin:
flipper06 05-04-2008, 12:34 AM Cap,
Did you custom make your ac power cords or have them made specially? Reason i ask is they appear to be ALOT longer then normal ones.
Thanks,
Cap Capello 05-04-2008, 07:52 AM Chuck: These people have been reliable for me.
