I guess theyre getting ready for the 1200's. Just got the latest mailer its listed at 299. Great deal on a basic CD table. IMO this is a better player than the PIO CDJ 200. Its even cheaper than the PIO 100's now.

I don't know if I like the Denon 1000 better than the Pioneers I think that the denon 1000s have a tinny sound when playing even a good rated mp3 file.

If you have it in the budget the Pioneer CDJ 400's are the absolute best way to go, i gave up Pioneer CDJ 1000s for them

why give up 1000's for 400's? What makes them different? Just curious....

weight
platter response
usb on top
some, not all, but some of the efx work with serato

we still a dozen 1000s in commission at least 4 are mk3s

theres a couple other things i cant quite think of at the moment.. good question though..

yeah some of my djs that work for me think im nuts, especially the one who got to go from 800s to 1000s when my 400s came in

Have you guys seen the upcoming DNS-1200? Not out yet but it will give the CDJ 400 a run for its money. If I could hold off for those, I will. But the 600 price for a pair of DNS 1000's is tempting. But the USB connectivity is key. The DNS 1200 will have them too. It will also have MIDI capability, so connecting to Serato is alsoin its future. The HC4500 controller is already getting good reviews as a Midi controller. I guess this is the direction that Denon is taking.

The PIO 1000's are great. But among other things that would sway me away from them is the size. We are mobile DJ's. I like packing light. The CDJ200 and DNS1000 are perfect just for basic mixing at gigs. The PIO 200 doesnt scratch though but I have to admit that it does have a much warmer sound compared to the Denons.

Im personally a Denon guy so I have a slight inclination to choose them just because. Just a personal preference.

It might be that they are $300 because no one uses cds. If they do they are using high end players.

I see big change in the cd player market each company will have a cheap player and most will compete for the bells and whistles models that the remix guys use.

News Flash you can use ANY CD player with Serato if you didnt want to scratch you could use serato in some gemini top loader.

Denons gotta do a lot better than they have in the past with CD players for me to make a move. I love their mixers and im back to liking this HD 2500 but their cd players need something to be desired.

Our in house djs only use Pioneer.

I have a pair of CDJ 800 MK2s with a A&H X-Zone 62 Mixer in one coffin case for my bigger packages. The sound from this system is warmer and packs more of a punch.
I also have a pair of DNS-1000's with a Dennon DNX100 Mixer in another coffin case for smaller packages, BBQ's etc. or even as backup.
its much lighter, smaller size and lets me scratch or back que just as I want to. Thats why I can't use a dual cd player/controller.
I do prefer the Pioneers over the Denon anyday because of problems I've read about with Denon's software issues etc.
Pioneers are built like a tank and read anything without a glitch.
you can use any of these decks with Serato aswell.
I like the features on the Denons though, like the next track reserve, seamless loop, echo, flanger etc. for live remixing.

does anyone have the DNS 1000's here and have you had any problems with them?
I paid $299.99 for them each here when Denon's warehouse had a big sale.

Kyle- I know that any CD player can be use with Serato, thats what TC CD's are for. I meant Serato with MIDI control is what the future Denon 1200 and the Pio 400 will be . Serato already is Launching the new "Searto Lite" called ITCH but so far it will be exclusive with a Numark and a Vestax controller for now (Ithink, correct me if Im wrong).
Serato without TCC would be the perfect way to go. MIDI is where the future will be.

I like serato with TC better because it automatically calls for redundant back up on all of our systems. Itch doesnt have half the bells and whistles that scratch live has.

I still use CD's!:sqlaugh: Gotta get my ass out of the stone age.
I actually am looking at it as back up gear. Just gives me the warm fuzzies knowing that I wont bestuck if my Laptop takes a dump for some
reason.

Which is exactly why I dont want to go the Midi controller set up. No redundant back up. With CD players that have MIDI, it is the perfect sytem becuase of the built in redundduncy.
I really dont need all the bells and whistles anyway. Gosh I hardly use my loop on my current setup:sqlaugh: Gotta get in line with times I guess. It also sounds like you do a lot more advanced mixing than I do. I just do basic beat mixing/matching.

Correct me if Im wrong but does your 400's has MIDI thorugh the USB's? Youd be set once SSL comes up with a version that has native controls that could be run staright from the PIO. No more need for TCC. Plus youll still have the CD palyer as back up.

I've been using the Denon DN-S1000's for 3 years and in that time they have performed flawlessly with both audio CD's and MP3 discs, I've never even experienced an 'Error' message once. They are heavy little guys and are very well built, in fact, they are still Made in Japan. I don't find them 'tinny' sounding and don't see how that would even be possible with a 20-20,000Hz response and a S/N ratio of 95dB. I think the only person that would find them 'tinny' sounding would be a Pioneer guy... Lol
The looping and hot-starts are awesome and so are the effects. Everything is easy to use, unlike the Denon DN-S5000 which is quite complex. The scratching is fine for someone like me who only does a bit but it does advance itself a couple frames from where your original Cue point was after your scratch. Master Tempo works great. One super cool feature is the way that you can Cue up another track off the same CD to play once the current track finishes; it will even fade into it.

I highly recommend these decks to anyone who does not need to use them to control DJ software. Thumbs waaaaaay up from me!

Definitely a fair thing to say.. yes Im a pioneer guy all around except with mixers i personally use a rane standard right now for the other guys is the numark 5000fx which in my opinion is the best piece theyve come out with in years, back since the days of the numark 1775 and the 1800 with the sampler. (91 ish)

hey eezee
Thanks for the compliment i dont do that much advanced mixing ive just been djing so long and grew up in a mixing environment i guess... i think it was 01 when the 1000s were introduced but even then i did 2 technics 1200s and 1000s on the outside so a four input system and would stay pretty much on the 1200s except for new music i couldnt get on vinyl back then.
