Setting up a road rack?

Ok, I took delivery today of my new road rack (Odyssey FRP12W*) and before I start slapping stuff in there..I thought I'd get a little feedback.

I'm presuming that since the amps will be the heaviest items, then they will be mounted in the bottom?

Any other sage advice before I begin?

*Yes it's got wheels....:sqwink:

Brother Kirby,

Indeed, the amps should be on the bottom rails. This will allow stability and a lower center of gravity. It's not so easy to tip over.

Just a bit of advice: It is adviseable to split your load among cases rather than put it all in one case. Them cases can get heavy when it's 90 degrees out and 90 percent humidity.

Put casters on the bottom or a furniture mover.

I agree two smaller racks vs one big rack for all is a fantastic way to go... I tried getting all my gear into 1 12U rack and let me tell ya it was a ball buster....

My rack is much lighter now that the amp and my eq are in a small 4U rack and the rest of my gear is in the 12U except for my wireless... my back is much happier now and I don't have to drag out the amp rack if I'm using the bose...

Put casters on the bottom or a furniture mover.

Sarge: Yup wheel's are on there.

Also going to fabricate some kind of portable ramp to wheel it into the trailer.

Dear Kirby

Even though the temptation is to fill that sucka up.... keep it lite.. ya never know when you're gonna have to gut lift and carry it up a flight or two of stairs....:sqerr:

Thanks

Thanks for the concerns about "weight" but I'll be fine with what I have planned for it.

Mods, let's close this thread.

-Thanks-

Just keep the wires need, Power away from audio and if they must cross do so at 90 degrees...
