Hey all,
My current sound system is very basic, and consists of the following:

1. PC with Atomix MP3
2. Alesis 8USB mixer
3. DB Technologies 215 mains
4. DB Technologies SUB 15 x 2

The speakers sound pretty good most of the time, but I wonder if I could really benefit from getting a DBX Driverack for Powered speakers? I am guessing it would help sometimes, if not all the time in terms of sound and output. Any experience with one of these for powered setups? Thanks in advance...

Jeff

You are referring to DBX Driverack PX correct?

Yes. Get it.
Look at it from a compressor/limiter standpoint as well as crossover and EQ.

Get it!

It will make "most of the time" all of the time and you can save settings for different venues.

Jt, do you have one, or have used one? Good sound? Fairly simple to setup?

Recent installation we completed we used the drive rack, it was amazing hearing the before/after when we RTA'd the system, has excellent warmth and crystal clear highs, and this is in a facility with hard walls and sound bouncing everywhere.

I own the passive version. Knardini and I are configuring a system through our supplier to include this. It comes before anything in my setup.

And yes, easy, once you read the manual and play with it for a bit. Essentially a swiss army tech device using one rack space.

What exactly is the PX lacking that makes it $100 cheaper then the PA?

Good question Brian, I was wondering the same thing.
I have a Driverack PA, doesnt that do the same thing?
I havent used it for my powered speakers but I was thinking about it. I think I should be good with the PA version and not have to get the PX.
let me know if Im wrong anyone

A bit more info....

1. The PX only has main and sub outputs, unlike the PA (has high, mid, and sub capability).
2. The PX does not have any output delay capability, like the PA.
3. The PX has powered speakers in their presets, obviously.

I am still looking for a good used PA, or I may get a new PX, due to the cost savings of that unit. There are rebates on both if purchased new from an authorized dealer ($50 for the PX, and $100 for the PA).
