Ok, let me ask this way? What is like a Mix 2, but MUCH better?Papa Deuce 05-07-2008, 09:53 PM Willing to spend about $750 + or -, to get all of that in one self contained unit, like a Mix 2. 1cdj 05-07-2008, 10:14 PM nothings wrong with the mix 2 but the B52 system is getting favorable reviews and can easly be hooked up to serato and other programs, i've seen them for 999 i dont know if you want to go that route. My mix 2 is too noisy..... Steve Sharp 05-07-2008, 10:33 PM If you can make it to $900 plus shipping, I've got a Prodigy FX for you. I've used it a grand total of twice, and was planning to configure it to run timecode for me, but I believe I'd like to invest in a new laptop instead. Interested? I'm just in the getting info stage. The prodigy does look impressive, for sure. I currently run a mix 2 and a laptop.... I really like having CDs. I don't believe I will ever be 100% laptop. MADNESS 05-07-2008, 10:48 PM Papa, gotta let go man. I did a wedding saturday totally digital and it set me on fire!!! jtnichol 05-07-2008, 10:52 PM Papa....When one part of a self contained unit goes down, its all down. With two CD players and a mixer in the middle, you can get get a case for all three. You can limp with one mixer/cdplayer, or just a single deck if your mixer goes out. My pair of numarks has about twice the footprint as a mix 2. By the way, I used to own a mix 2 myself. They are a touch noisy, but it got me to where I am now! more numarks... Steve Sharp 05-07-2008, 11:28 PM Chuck: Let me know. I'm probably a week or so out from "actively" selling it. Papa Deuce 05-07-2008, 11:34 PM Chuck: Let me know. I'm probably a week or so out from "actively" selling it. Then I would say go ahead and sell it.... I'm at least a month away, if not more from making a decision. kevwebny 05-07-2008, 11:51 PM PAPA DUECE go try the prodigy fx at GC THEY USUALLY HAVE THEM ON DISPLAY. IT HAS ITS ON CASE . I LIKE IT. MY OLD SETUP WAS A NUMARK CDMIX 3 AND I STILL HAVE IT FOR COCTAIL HR ETC. i NEVER THOUGHT IT WAS NOISY. kevwebny 05-07-2008, 11:59 PM STEVE I REALY LIKE THAT PRODIGY FX are u gonna get a controler like the numark nx7 to control your software instead of the time code cd Steve Sharp 05-08-2008, 12:34 AM I think you can guess which controller I'm using presently, can't you? The NS7 looks pretty sick, though. I will definitely have a look at it when it comes out, but I'm told that won't be until November. kevwebny 05-08-2008, 12:42 AM I think you can guess which controller I'm using presently, can't you? I did a wedding saturday totally digital and it set me on fire!!! I have to agree, you have to let go some time just like you might have thought nothing could have replaced vinyl. I have been 100% digital for 5 years now, I look back and wonder how I did it then and realize that being digital has made me a much better entertainer. Wait lists, preset cues, auto mix, BPM's at your fingertips leaves you a lot more time to do other things that you would have to either do yourself or pay someone to do for you. It is scary at first, but just leave your CD's in the car, once you begin to rely on your digital system, it becomes second nature. Good luck Steve Sharp 05-08-2008, 12:58 AM am using the herculesmk2 for sound card w/tcccd what about u ?[/I] The RMX, stand alone, no timecode, for now. Good luck While I'm with Jonathan, I'd just like to point out that the ProdigyFX supports mp3 files natively, with all the bells and whistles intact. If you plan your sets well, and burn them to mp3, you could do an entire event without changing the discs at all. nextgen1 05-08-2008, 01:17 AM Papa, gotta let go man. I did a wedding saturday totally digital and it set me on fire!!! LOL the funny part is I have never done a party with CD's. I have always been digital. Every CD I get goes into the computer and Gets ripped right off the bat. I can cue up a song ok and fade ok but its the last thing I want to do. I hear so many people talking about digital DJ's. I still have to choose the next song I still have to watch the dance floor. But when you see a groom make a request and he can't walk 10 feet away and his request is playing with a look of amazement from him thats cool stuff I don't care who you are. I don't worry about beat matching or perfect fades. I use OTSAV and love that program. It was made for a DJ such as myself. Jon Tuck 05-08-2008, 02:43 AM Papa from my previous tests to eventually find my way completely digital I looked at the Prodigy. Its a Cadillac compared to the mix2 andI love how the buttons sliders etc feel and especially the non drawer load feature. ( think car CD setup) I often wondered why they continued making drawer load once the auto load feature was in proper working order. Though I have only done some hands on testing if I had wanted to stay all in one Prodigy likely would have been my choice. The previous mentioned Denon gear mixer 500, HD2500 and decks 4500 will all fit nicely into a odyssey or SKB case. Call Ben for details. Brian Martin 05-08-2008, 09:07 PM This was mentioned in an earlier post. Have you considered this one yet? I'm still thinking about it myself. http://www.adjaudio.com/product.asp?ProductIDNumber=1313&cat=DJ_Systems Papa Deuce 05-08-2008, 09:46 PM This was mentioned in an earlier post. Have you considered this one yet? I'm still thinking about it myself. http://www.adjaudio.com/product.asp?ProductIDNumber=1313&cat=DJ_Systems I would consider it... I'll also check out Denon's line. DJ JohnThe1 05-08-2008, 10:37 PM Hello Poppa Chucky Deuce, JT Nickel hit it right on the head. The all in ones are for 911 situations. (Back up equipment) Since you are CD and part laptop like myself. A Denon 4500 deck with an x500 would compliment your Bose set up quite nice. Slap that bad boy in a SKB shuttle case and you are good to go. It is also within your price range. jtnichol 05-08-2008, 11:53 PM Nichol, not Nickel. According to the government, I'm now cheaper to make than the real thing. DJ JohnThe1 05-09-2008, 11:08 AM My bad dude. You will always be a Dime in my book Mr. Nichol. Jamie Simpson 05-09-2008, 02:25 PM I think All in ones are a fine. We went thru the mix 2 and 3s with the multi-op and they are about as good as they get. I haven't heard the American Audio or Gemini version of them yet and maybe even Stanton makes one. If you want to stay in the same price range that is what you are looking at. I do think B-52 took the concept and blew it out of the water. It's an amazing unit and for $900, that seems like a great deal for a long term solution. Papa, what percentage are you doing computer versus CD at an event? Jamie Houserockers DJ Papa Deuce 05-09-2008, 02:42 PM Papa, what percentage are you doing computer versus CD at an event? Jamie Houserockers DJ So far 80% CD and 20% Rockit. jtnichol 05-09-2008, 03:35 PM My bad dude. You will always be a Dime in my book Mr. Nichol. But I ain't worth it. eezee 05-09-2008, 11:45 PM This was mentioned in an earlier post. Have you considered this one yet? Its still a very affordable $499. Still very affordable and gives a lot of features. It also has a AUX input in front.
