Thinking of a moving head upgrade, looking for cheap (under $500) source for flight, road case for Elation Design Spot 250's.

Anyone have a tip?

Build them yourself for half that cost... maybe even less. I don't think I've ever spent more than $100 on a flight case that I've built, including wood, tongue and groover, latches, corners, carpet, etc...

Built them for Acrobats, Martin Scanners, CD's, amp cases, Color Changers, and the list goes on... some good sized cases... and usually under $100 per.

If you do build your own, use these for a custom fit:

I use the Instapak Quick.

After talking to our local light guy and hearing him say 95% of the damage to moving heads is the vibration within the case I really want something that is made for life on the road. I think I could build somthing nice but worry about the fit inside. I use blankets and towels right now but want something more permenant and professional. My hope is finding a nice used case made for whatever I end up buying....BUT the homeade version is a good idea and definetly cost effective.

PERFECT! Thanks for looking for me! I'm going to take some measurments and see about grabbing this one. I think I could build a nice one, but honestly I'm too busy (code for lazy) these days - I'm all about having something dropped at my door step that will work perfectly for years to come, not break in a couple months.

I think I'm getting old and lazy already :sqerr:

I actually did check it out for quite a while but I got stuck looking at speakers, lighting, then when I finally got around to checking on cases my wife caught me dealing with yet another DJ issue and I had to pretend I was working on a lesson plan or something :sqembarrassed:

Now all I need are a couple kick ass lights to put inside the case!!

Thanks again
