What was old seems new again

I know you folks have read thru the forums about the club I used to spin for a few years back called Music City. Well, Johnny and daughter Kelly have opened another club in Kernersville called Cowboys. It's a country and western style club, but they want to do the same type of format I made popular at The Red Rooster, by playing urban and hip hop closer to the end of the night.

This club only opened up a few weeks ago and hasn't had time to build a clientele yet, so we'll see where it goes. I don't have a real good read on it yet, but I will say this much - it's very nice inside.

The building is centrally located between two major highways, in an area that is busting at the seams when it comes to commercial and residential growth, and is smack dab in the middle of the three cities that make up the Triad.

They are doing plenty of advertising on the most popular country formatted station in the market, but at this time of the year, going into the warm summer months when people start doing more and more things outside, clubs in this area see a large drop in numbers thru the doors.

I'm working most Friday nights right now, only because this is prime wedding season and I'm booked every Saturday between now and July with events.

I'll keep you posted with updates.

In this part of the woods, country clubs still have not made a comeback. It's also rare that I play country music at weddings.

Good to see you again Ruben.

Here in the South, in the heart of NAS(TY)CAR country, country music has been the most popular, at least radio-wise for a long time. I don't play much country at wedding receptions either, unless requested by the couple.

I played a country nightclub standard - Cotton Eyed Joe, last weekend at the club when we had quite a few folks present, and surprisingly, it just died. No one danced to it.

Most times it works, sometimes it doesn't.
