Fred Stewart 05-17-2008, 06:53 PM Dear Lord, Steve. I am so saddened to hear. :(
It's times like these that serve to remind us of just how close we are to being laid up. Just a split second away. Please, get your rest and do what the Doc says, my brother. We're keeping you in our thoughts and prayers for a swift recovery. :)
Richie K 05-17-2008, 08:54 PM Steve,

Ron Auger 05-17-2008, 11:52 PM Sorry to hear about your accident. I do hope you're covered by the department. Us full time firefighters always say "if you're going to get hurt, get hurt at work."
With both arms broken how will you......ah never mind!:sqerr:
Wow, a lot has changed since I retired. I always washed my trucks from the ground with long brushes.:sqwink:
It's times like these that serve to remind us of just how close we are to being laid
DJ Cam 05-18-2008, 01:32 AM I said...OUCH!
I hope you are ok and I wish you a fast recovery.
DJ Zac 05-18-2008, 09:34 AM Dang, Steve!!
Good luck on your recovery!
I cant even imagine breaking one arm....but wow...two! ISHTA!
I cant even picture how hard your recovery is going to be! So I wish you the best, and I hope those bones heal real well! Hopefully your doctors fix you up right so that you dont lose too much time in the casts and all! Best of Luck, and if I lived a lot closer, if you ever needed anything, you couldve hollared. Unfortunately, distance is an issue! So I now hope, you have enough close people in your circle to help you out! Best wishes my friend! Cant wait to hear when you are "fully" up and running again!
BTW, dont let your recovery, and your lack of doing things depress you, because I can see this happening! When people offer to do things for you...as simple as they can be....dont feel bad for asking them to do so! They totally understand, so dont feel like a burden!
I am still totally bummed to hear about this.....I do feel bad! OUCHY! =(
Take Care =)
Adam
Steve Cie 05-18-2008, 02:45 PM I would like to thank everyone on New Jersey DJ Network, Kevin Colangelo Premiere DJ’s, and Our DJ Talk.com, for all of the well wishes and messages of support. Over a dozen DJ professionals have offered to come and cover my gigs for me. It is so great to know that there are so many kind souls out there that are willing to help.
It was an unbelievably freak accident that befell me. And as one well-wisher so eloquently put, you never realize how close you are to becoming accidentally incapacitated. And never can you appreciate the many ramifications such incapacitation exacts from not only you, but also literally dozens of people around you who are somewhat involved in your life and business.
Simple everyday things, typing, scratching an itch, eating, getting a drink, opening and closing a door, driving a car, operating the mouse and keyboard on your computer, shaving, hygiene, are all suddenly taken out of your control and ability.
Then, of course, there is a degree of embarrassment at having had such a freak accident.
Could of, should of, would of’s come at you out of the woodwork.
But nonetheless, what has happened has indeed happened.
The broken bones don’t appear to be so severe. The pain is subsiding, and a period of adjustment to wearing casts and slings on both arms is progressing.
Talk about claustrophobia----wow I feel trapped like a mummy.
In any event, I will get through this.
Thank God I went digital three years ago. With the help of my roadies, and the understanding of my clients, I should be able to do my upcoming gigs.
If I find I cannot, I know that I can count on all of you in the industry to keep the show going and satisfy the clients.
My best wishes and sincere thanks to each and every one of you.
Steve Cie

The Wizard Of OZ 05-22-2008, 05:00 PM Wow, that is horrible. So sorry to hear this. Please take care of yourself and just focus on your health. What a terrible way to get a vacation.
Steve Cie 05-29-2008, 11:35 AM Well, I managed to do my two scheduled gigs over the weekend.
With the assistance of my two roadies, got it all set up and it went off like clockwork. But not without a lot of pain.
First gig was a major wedding in the gorgeous Lakeside Manor in Hazlet NJ
We had 250 guests.
My roadie took some photos.
The second gig was my Annual Memorial Day Summer Kick-Off Dance at Colonial Woods Resort in Pennsylvania.
We had over 500 guests at this one
Unfortunately, no pictures.
Both events turned out very well, even with my broken arms!

DJ JohnThe1 05-29-2008, 12:05 PM Wow! The Armless DJ.. Steve you rock.
I am glad you were able to get the gigs done.
Chuck The DJ 05-29-2008, 02:29 PM Holy Crap Batman!! Steve,,,,, stop trying to live your childhood fantasies of being a Fireman.. You are too darn old!!!
Need a vacation on Maui????
Take care brah! Have a Longboard and chillax!
Steve Cie 05-29-2008, 02:58 PM Hi Chuck-
Good hearin' from you bro'.
Trying to put together a trip back to the rock in November.
Everything is up in the air right now
Been doin' the firefighter thing for 22 years now. Old habits die hard.
But I think you are right. Definitely getting too old to do this firefighter thing much longer. But who would have figured getting such a serious injury just trying to wash the truck?
Oh well.
Mahalo my friend!
The Wizard Of OZ 05-30-2008, 02:05 PM No pick of you in 2 arm casts and a big old bandage around your head like a turban???
Steve Cie 05-30-2008, 08:32 PM I managed to get both arms into the sleeves of a larger sized Tux jacket for the event. I wore my slings until 10 minutes before the event. If you look closely at this photo, you will see the cast covering the knuckles on my right hand. The left hand and arm were crossed across my abdomen for most of the evening. I used my right hand to move the controls on my mixer and DAC-3 Controller. Hardly anyone noticed my broken arms, except the Bridal Party. No way could I keep them in the dark.
By the end of the event though, I was in utter agony. The next day, another performance in Pennsylvania. This time I didn't even try to hide it. I wore my slings and felt much better at the end of the night.
I farmed out my events for this weekend. I have two big shows next weekend and will decide on Monday whether or not I will do them.
Party On! 06-02-2008, 11:22 AM Hey Steve,
Sorry to see you so banged up, I live about 30 minutes from you, so if you need some help, lemme know......
John
SayHi2ThisFDJ 06-02-2008, 08:21 PM Gee we were wondering what was going on with you...hadn't seen you in a while....hey buddy feel better!
Bill Kexel 06-03-2008, 11:57 PM Both events turned out very well, even with my broken arms! [
Good for you!
Man! That dancefloor is quite a ways from the DJ & speakers!
Steve Cie 06-04-2008, 06:52 PM Yes indeed! A good 25 feet or more from the dance floor. But unobstructed, so it works out. Beautiful venue, seats up to 450 people. The place swallows sound like you never experienced before. Just got news today on being one of their preferred vendors from now on. They liked what they saw and they liked what they heard. But I think the fact that I completed my contract, even with two broken arms, somewhat impressed them on my dependability.
Just completed two new contracts from clients they directed to me!
Chi-Ching!
Steve Cie 07-09-2008, 08:54 AM Well, it's been just about two months now since the accident. The left arm has healed well, but the right arm is still in rough shape.
I haven't worked a gig in 30 days, trying to recuperate and heal.
I have to get back to work, so, I have to lighten the load.
My gig rack is simply too heavy with the bad arm.
So I came up with a solution.
I have retired my favorite 10 X 10 RAXXESS Gig Box, along with my Laptop , DAC-3 Controller, Gigaport Sound Card, Gemini CD9500 Pro II Dual CD Player, my 4 channel chase controller.
(no lonmgerneed the controller as i eliminated my two T-Stands and 8 Par 38's, replacing them with two DMX Mega-Pixel LED Light Bars)
In place, I have purchased a Denon HD-2500 and a SKB 10 X 10 Polyethelyne Gig Rack.
The Denon has a built in sound card and 40 GB Hard Drive. I still have my 1 terabyte Drive.
The end result is my new gig box weighs only 31 lbs. I can handle that!
I'm gonna miss my faithful PCDJ, but I am up to the challenge of learning the new system dictated by the Denon.
My original rack weighed about 125 lbs 18 months ago. last year I dropped the need for a heavy Crown Amp in the rack when I switched to powered speakers. Now---whew--this thing is really light!
My first gig is this Saturday afternoon---we shall see how well it all works out!
