I have been looking at moving head cases. From some of the pictures, it looks like these are built so the fixture is upside down.
Is this the normal way moving heads are stored in their case?
I may tackle building my own since I like doing projects of this manner.
Thanks in advance for your experience and advice.
Most of the ones I've seen, they do hang hown, except sometimes my case is stored standing on the end.

Yes, they are stored upside down.
The reason for this is to make it easy to attach to truss when it is lowered to the ground. Roll case underneath truss, attach moving head, hoist truss in the air.
I made my own case out of a Contico "Pro Tuff" bin at Lowes. I had a video somewhere on here about it. search: "gear video" Cost me 50 bucks for the case, another 50 for casters and wood.
TOVcases.com makes some too I think for pretty cheap.

Jeremiah, you haven't seen a road case for the DL2's just yet ;)
Same thing as JT said, btw they also use special clamps on them to make it really easy to attach to truck, really a big help with those HEAVY fixtures.

Yeah, I remember reading about that around a year ago...something like $35,000?
