I'm from the Northeast PA/Pocono Mountain area. We have a tradition here of everyone taking a turn dancing with the bride for a few seconds near the end of the reception. The reception guests line up. Each guest drops a dollar, or more, into the veil that the Maid of Honor holds just before dancing with the bride.
I'm trying to find out what the song is that they traditionally play. The lyrics are basically two lines repeated over and over..."put the money in the veil" & "won't you come and dance with her". It definitely has the undertones of a slower polka.
Can anyone please help with where I can get the song?

I found a site that explains what you are talking about, and believe there is a place to buy a certain version of the song?? Maybe it will help you out.

Is the song/dance with the bride in lieu of the traditional money dance?

Ruben,
I'm not familiar with anything outside of my area, so can you tell me about the "traditional" money dance is in your area. We call what I described the "money dance".

The money dance that I’m familiar with is when the B & G dance with the wedding guests for cash usually to slow music. The money is pinned to the B & G. In some places polka music is used but NOT in my part of the world.

I used to use Georgia Satellites as bumper and during the explanation of what was about to take place during the Money Dance Intro. Here in Canada I have yet to perform or see the moneydance done. Its sort of figured guests have already provided substantial gifts and perhaps traveled a bit along with possibly paying to lodge. To ask them to then hand out money as well might be considered overkill here. I could be wrong as I havent asked anyone. Sorry I couldnt be of more assistance.

While I won't be doing the wedding I will be an honored guest at it. Janet my future daughter in law explained it too me. All the guest supply everything needed for the wedding from the gown and rings to the food and venue. I am supplying the sound system and her cousin is DJing the event.
I still don't get the flat rock thing though, what the heck does she need a flat rock in the kitchen for?
