The left side line input of slider 3 is not working properly. I want to connected my computer into this one. Can I use the phono input instead? If so and it works ok, does that mean the line input connector is bad? If the left side of the phono input does not work, does that mean the slider is bad?

You cannot connect your computer line out to the phono input the level difference is enoirmous. I would either get the mixer fixed or replace it.

Have you tried swapping the cables?

Yep. I've used a couple different pair of cables. I'm using slider 4 just for preview so i can move that function to 3 and put the back up laptop on 4.

Just for the hell of it, open up the mixer, expose the slider, and use a medicine dropper to squirt alcohol ( 91% or pure denatured) into the slider and work it back and forth a few times. Then wait a few minutes for the alcohol to dry and try it. Might just be gummed up...

Joes idea would work i was going to suggest blowing the fader out with some canned air, but also if the mixer isnt that old the phono input might either a) not be preamped like they used to be or b) have a toggle switch for a line leve/phono level source. If thats the case switch the toggle to line and try that one otherwise if its a preamped fader it will be very LOUD and distorted
