I'm talking older - but fun - movies? Mostly things for kids? Any ideas what it costs to get the rights for one time airings, of, lets say, a movie like Finding Nemo?

I know some of you do movie nights.

I do approximately 6 movies a year for the local college. The movies have to be ordered from a place like http://www.swank.com (http://www.swank.com/) . They provide the license to show it. It costs about $350 for the license. Your client has to be the one to order it. You, as the DJ, can't get it.

Usually what I do is let the customer "rent" the equipment and they supply whatever they want to watch. Most of the time its in people's backyards anyway.

If I did schools for a living or charged admission, then absolutely. But that hasn't happened yet.

Usually people call and say the want a movie, then I bring the Nintendo Wii and 4 remotes. Tennis until movie time anyone?

I believe (I never have, so do this at your own risk) these are in the public domain:

What I meant was, I have not shown a public domain movie.

I use my screens for slideshows at weddings and for showing outdoor movies for both my family and clients. Which one I use depends on the client's needs, space available and $$.
