I am thinking of expanding my system so that it can be used in multiple configurations. If you had a choice which would you buy A DBX Driverrack-PA or just a DBX 2231 Equalizer?
My Main system will consist or a Stereo 3 way electronic Crossover, Double Bass Bins, midrange section and tweeter section with stereo amps for each (Bass, Midrange and Tweeters). I used to use a DBX Compressor/expander with an Ashly EQ. Folks used to marvel at the power and clarity of the sound.
Which of the two above units would you purchase and why/why not?

I'd comment, but I don't know what the H#ll I'm talking about most of the time! :sqwink:
I'm sure some of the sound "gurus" will chime in later when they sign on.

Personally with the setup you have I wouldn't buy either. the only thing you would really gain from the driverack is the subharmonic synth. and if you have lots of power and clarity now that might just muddy it up
I don't know about Ashly EQs but if they are like thier amps they are as good or better than the DBX gear.
If it ain't broke don't fix it

The 2231 is overkill for what you want to do...
I use those on my live sound rig, and do use one once in a while on my dj rig.
my regular 231 works just fine, and costs 1/5 of the 2231.
and i agree with Jeff on the Driverack also.

Correction it is a Tapco 2200 EQ that I have . The crossover is an Ashly SC-77
Well the matter of fact is that having been in two clubs for the past 8 years, some of my equipment has been sitting unused. Therefore the Tapco EQ for instance, now have some of the sliders sticking so now I just want to replace it.

I do have a DBX Subharmonic Synth. I bought it back in 1979 I believe. It has the Serial number 0001 on it. When I lived in Boston a friend of mine who used to work for DBX bought it on my behalf. It still works! At that time it was called a "Boom Box"

If memory serves, the Driverack is an all-in-one processing unit. It has EQ and compression/limiting. That with your crossover should cover your processing needs.
Thoughts?

I do not have powered speakers. I use three amps with a 3 way electronic crossover network. One gor highs, one for mids and the other for bass (A more stronger bass than a sub woofer)
