has anyone used them stand alone for small parties playing top 40 & hip hop?

I think you'll want at least one sub with those no matter the size of the party or music style....great speakers as I understand.

I did an event in a old house turned restaurant....The "dance area was a dining room, about 25 x 15 (picture 4 dining rooms with a hall in the middle). I had about 30 at one time in that room - the remaining 70-80 throughout the other rooms.

I put them on the floor; they sounded great. They coupled with the floor. I got asked by management to turn it down later in the night....On sticks, likely the sound wouldn't as been as great.

I agree Steve. Putting the speakers on the floor make them sound much better than when they are on sticks.
I did a 50th birthday in a 3 story walk up in Manhattan the other night for just 50 people in a small room. I put my 2 Yorkvilles on the floor and no sub. I heard things that night from the speakers that I never knew they could do. It was awesome.

How about one on the stick and one on the floor?
Best of both worlds?
I have 80 people wedding in 2 weeks. Guess what I'm using?!

The RCF's use a 10" woofer they can bottom out very quickly. Because Hip hop has tons of bass. I would use a sub for this gig. The perfect sub for your mains are the RCF ART 705-AS. This combo will outperform many systems costing much more. You made an awesome choice when you bought the 310A.:sqwink:

Thanks for all the responses,

I own 2 RCF 705's and have used the 310's withe subs before, but never had the oportunity to fire them by themselves. I did the party with my mackies, this was again a house party for a graduation, let me say that I regret taking the mackies. I think that yes as Steve says, the 310's would have not only done the job but portability in and out of the house would have been better.

For that hip hop, top 40 gig you might want to bring the sub. The RCF's sound much better and you won't work them too hard with the sub. I have a set of the 325's and I always bring a small sub out with them.
